wurde inzwischen auch vom
Bundesgymnasium Dornbirn übernommen.
Die Riedenburger Schulen
planen, dies auch auf andere Fächer
auszudehnen. Hinter dem Projekt
steht die individuelle Förderung von
lernschwachen oder wenig motivierten
Schülerinnen.

English Competition
„Who wants to take part at this year’s
English Competition?“ our English
teachers asked us one day in class.
After we had heard about it, it was
clear to Vreni (V.Jahrgang) and me to
take part and accept the challenge.
Then we had to get ready for the
competition and prepare ourselves.
Therefore, Frau Prof. Walser gave us
extra English conversation lessons,
in which we had a lot of discussions
and we held speeches. This year the
competitions were held in Feldkirch,
at the Pädagogische Institut from
March 10-14. On Monday, March
10th, all grammar schools of Vorarlberg
delivered the contest. Honestly,
I felt really nervous when I got there.
But the other students seemed to
have the same problems.
Then we were divided into four
groups and each group had to dispute
different topics. My group discussed
the topic „Future changes
in Vorarlberg – is it better to leave
Vorarlberg or are there any reasons
to stay?“. After our discussions the
jury announced who was chosen to
go on and who was eliminated. I was
quite surprised when I heard my
name on the list of the people who
were accepted for the second round.
In the afternoon, the programme
was continued. The next challenge
was to hold a little speech. We received
the topics five minutes before
we had to deliver the speeches and
could jot down some key words.
Then we had to talk in front of the
audience for about five minutes. Of
course, everyone had two different
topics to choose from and I talked to
the audience about “Talent or effort?”.
Personally, I think that this
was the best part of the whole competition.
My joy was enormous when I heard
that I had succeeded in that part as
well and was still part of the group.
Last but not least, the remaining four
students, including some older guys
from Feldkirch and me, had to imagine
talking to the mayor of our town
and trying to convince him to establish
better youth projects.
Then the winners were elected. I did
not win the first price, but for being
in the competition with only older
students, I was quiet content with
the 4th place. I won a lot of English
books and dictionaries, and I promised
myself that I would try again
next year. Vreni Wingelmayr, a graduate
of our HLW, was the second
student from our school, who took
part at the “Fremdsprachenwettbewerb”.
Her competition took place
one day later and she also had three
rounds to go through: discussion,
speech and role play. Luckily, she
won the 2nd price. Congratulations!
All in all, the competition was a really
good and interesting experience. A
big “Thank you” to Frau Prof. Wogowitsch,
who told us about it, and to
Frau Prof. Walser, who practised
with us and helped us a lot. Thank

Schulrudermeisterschaft
Am Samstag den 14.6.08 fand im
Bregenzer Wiking die Landesschulrudermeisterschaft
der Unterstufe
statt. Die Riedenburg nahm daran mit
zwei Booten teil und konnte in beiden
Altersklassen 92/93 und 94 den ersten
Platz erreichen. Bei idealen Bedingungen
und ruhiger See konnten
alle Rennen ohne größere Probleme
durchgeführt werden. Bei einem
spannenden Finale in der Altersklasse
94 konnten sich unser Mädchen Jacovljevic
Gabriele, Köb Reingard, Linhart
Sophia, Mader Anna, Mangold
Madeleine und Salvato Madeleine
knapp gegen die Mannschaften der
Gallusstraße und der Blumenstraße
durchsetzen. Im Jahrgang 92/93 gab
es nur ein Rennen gegen die Uhr, da
außer unseren Mädchen Härtenberger
Antonia, Maier Victoria, Roduner
Debora, Wilhelmer Amelie, Wunderli
Vanessa und Nägele Maria del Mar,
keine andere Mannschaft den Weg
zum Rennen gefunden hat. Wir freuen
uns also mit unseren Mädchen und
