JOHN DEERE Green is the colour which you meet on every corner at the Kraichtal-Gochsheim location, the distributing centre of POLYTEC COMPOSITES GERMANY. Here, the company manufactures almost 55,000 outer and inner cab roofs and 25,000 fenders out of Sheet Moulding Compound (SMC) for tractors and combine harvesters by JOHN DEERE, the company which leads the key markets in the manufacture of agricultural machines. The beginnings of this distinctive customer / supplier relationship go back to the year 1988, when both companies decided to cooperate. The reasons for this were obvious: the then Menzolit was one of Europe’s leading manufacturers and processors of the SMC composites and, with its Gochsheim plant, was only 15 km away from the JOHN DEERE cabin building plant in Bruchsal, from where the completely assembled driver’s cabins were taken to the JOHN DEERE plant in Mannheim for final assembly. Only 1 year after the signing of the contracts, the first tractor cabin roofs for the JOHN DEERE series 6010 were delivered from the today‘s POLYTEC plant. One year later, in 1990, it was already 15,000 units. But that was only the start, with the following years recording rapid growth which continues to this day. The main milestones for this constantly positive development from the start of the supply of the 6010 generation of tractors were: • The contracting of the company with the manufacture of roofs for the JOHN DEERE combine harvesters. Production in Gochsheim began in 1992. • Acceptance of assembly of the 6010 tractor inner cab roof occurred in 1994. For the Gochsheim location, this also meant a changeover from component to module supplier. From then on, JOHN DEERE in Bruchsal was able to concentrate on its core area of business, cabin construction. • Start of production of the new JOHN DEERE 6020 tractor in the year 2001. By this time, the company, which was re-named Menzolit-Fibron subsequent to the merger of the former competitors Menzolit and Fibron in 1995, built 35,000 external roofs as well as the same annual number of completely Tractor roof. / Traktor-Kabinendach. JOHN DEERE - series 5000. / Serie 5000. JOHN DEERE mounted cabin inner roofs in 18 basic versions and 11 variants for the new tractor cabin. A further 5,000 units were added one year later, in 2002, when JOHN DEERE decided to equip the cabins made at the US-American location of Waterloo, Iowa, with SMC cab roofs made by the current company POLYTEC COMPO- SITES GERMANY. • Contracting of the company at the Gochsheim location in the year 2004 to also fit the 6030 series with inner and external cabin roofs. Start of production in spring 2006 also meant further growth in this exceptionally interesting area of application for PCG. • The latest milestone in this rapid development of business is the acceptance of production of cabin roofs and fenders for the 5000 series tractors at the start of 2007. With the takeover of Menzolit- Fibron, consistent focusing on innovative and partnership-based cooperation has led to POLYTEC winning over JOHN DEERE as a new customer who, with a turnover of almost EUR 20 million, now counts as being one of the top customers of the POLYTEC GROUP. For JOHN DEERE, POLY TEC COMPOSITES GERMANY currently produces fully assembled inner and outer cab roofs, rear access panels and fenders for tractors as well as seat consoles and cabin roofs for combine harvesters. The development of the cooperation is also exemplary on the international level. Along with supplying components and modules to Bruchsal in Germany, Waterloo and Augusta in the USA and also to Mexico and Brazil, the company has accompanied JOHN DEERE to India. The new Sanaswadi Taluka-Sharir plant which opened in 2001 and is located approximately 60 km away from Pune builds JOHN DEERE SMC engine hoods on 5000 series tractors. These hoods are manufactured by the cooperation partner of POLYTEC COMPOSITES GERMANY, Automotive Composites Systems International (ACSI) in Pune, which belongs to the Tata group. The traffic lights for a continued growing business relationship between JOHN DEERE and the POLYTEC GROUP are firmly on green. The POLYTEC GROUP is present in many technologies in the plastics sector. This creates additional possibilities for the supply of thermoplastic components by the POLYTEC GROUP, especially for uses in the internal sections of tractor cabins, following the principle ‘EVERYTHING FROM A SINLGE SOURCE’. Produktionsanlauf in Gochsheim erfolgte 1992.
