Paralympic Day – Event of Top-Class
Paralympic Sports in Leipzig
The Paralympic Day was launched in Leipzig in 2008
at ORTHOPÄDIE + REHA-TECHNIK and due to the
great interest this programme will be greatly expanded
in 2010. On May 15, a large number of top-class
paralympic athletes and people actively involved in
handicapped sports will present themselves while
visitors will have the opportunity to participate in
exciting athletic activities.
Top-Class Paralympic Sports
Highlights of the Paralympic Day include:
international wheelchair basketball match between
the national teams from Germany and Poland
long-jump competition for athletes with prostheses
or visual impairment
the Meyra Cup for wheelchair basketball
Join-In Handicapped Sports Activity
Visitors will be able to try out various disciplines of
handicapped sports under the instruction of experienced
trainers and athletes such as table tennis,
badminton or in-door biathlon.

Erfolgreich startete 2008 in Leipzig der Paralympic
Day im Rahmen der ORTHOPÄDIE + REHA-TECHNIK.
Aufgrund des großen Interesses wird das Programm
2010 deutlich erweitert. Am 15. Mai präsentieren
sich sowohl zahlreiche Athleten des paralympischen
Spitzensports als auch Aktive des Behindertensports.
Außerdem können sich die Besucher selbst an spannenden
Sportangeboten beteiligen.
Paralympischer Spitzensport
Höhepunkte des Paralympic Day sind u. a.:
das Länderspiel der Nationalmannschaften
Deutschland gegen Polen im Rollstuhlbasketball
der Weitsprungwettbewerb für Prothesenträger
und sehbehinderte Athleten
der MeyraCup im Rollstuhlbasketball
Mitmach-Angebote Behindertensport
Unter Anleitung von erfahrenen Trainern und Sportlern
können die Besucher verschiedene Disziplinen
des Behindertensports ausprobieren, z. B. Tischtennis,
Badminton oder Indoorbiathlon.
