Research transferIn 2008 a new contract wassigned to control processing andco-operation. The related partnersformed the group Bremen/Nordwest-Verbund für Patentverwertung(group for patent utilisation)for the common purpose of legalprotection and economic use ofresearch results. The group enablesa faster introduction of researchresults to the market by creating aninfrastructure for legal protectionand use of scientific inventions. Thepurpose of the group is the applicationfor subsidies within the SIGNOprogramme of the BMWi Campaignefor use of research findings – Promotionof Utilisation (guideline from2.11.2007). The founding partnersare the University of Bremen, theBIBA Bremen Institute for Productionand Logistics, the BIAS Institute forApplied Radiation Technology, theIWT (institute for resource technology),the College of Bremen, theBremen University of Arts and theUniversity of Bremerhaven. After thepatent utilization agency of LowerSaxony closed in 2006, the Carl vonOssietzky University of Oldenburg,the College of Further Educationof Oldenburg/East Frisia/Wilhelmshaven(now the College of FurtherEducation of Emden/Leer and Collegeof Wilhelmshaven/Oldenburg/Elsfleth), the University of Osnabrückand the University of Vechta cameon board as new partners.The managing body of the groupis the University of Bremen. It acts asthe project manager and businessleader of the group. A further claimwill be the income of license fees, ifthe inventions can be marketed.It was also possible to close acontract with the same logisticscompany for a joint invention. Thisdevelopment is a device thatproduces a decentralized electricalcurrent and simultaneously usesthe waste heat to warm a cookingfacility or to generate hot water.69
