Specification Systems – CEN (Euro-Norm) and DIN<br />
AL CASTING ALLOYS<br />
This is the specification for the 42000 permanent mould<br />
casting alloy, solution treated and artificially aged.<br />
1. EN = Standard for the relevant product<br />
2. A = Aluminium<br />
3. B = Al and Al alloy ingots for remelting<br />
C = Castings<br />
4. The 5-figure material number specifies the alloy.<br />
The first figure is the main alloying element:<br />
2xxxx Copper<br />
4xxxx Silicon<br />
5xxxx Magnesium<br />
7xxxx Zinc<br />
The second figure specifies the alloy type:<br />

- 41xxx AlSiMgTi-Alloy<br />
- 42xxx AlSi7Mg-Alloy<br />
- 43xxx AlSi10Mg-Alloy<br />
- 44xxx AlSi-Alloy<br />

S = Sand Casting<br />
K = Permanent mould casting<br />
D = High pressure die casting<br />
L = Investment casting<br />
6. Specification of material conditions:<br />
F = As cast<br />
O = Soft annealed<br />
T1 = Controlled cooling after casting and<br />
naturally aged<br />
T4 = Solution treated and naturally aged,<br />
where applicable<br />
T5 = Controlled cooling after casting and<br />
artificially aged or overaged<br />
T6 = Solution and fully artificially aged<br />
T64 = Solution treated and not fully artificially<br />
aged – underaged<br />
T7 = Solution and overaged (artificially aged,<br />
stabilized condition)
