has had a new member: Dr. Roman Zadrozny.
The process engineer and former senior lecturer
at Wroclaw Technical University has
taken over responsibility for auditor training
and audit scheduling and is available to provide
support to external consulting companies.
Abstract
Data protection –
in law and in practice
A data protection officer is responsible for
ensuring that a company observes data
protection legislation. In small or medium
size companies this is rarely a full-time
position, meaning that it often makes sense
to enlist the services of an external service
provider. DEKRA-ITS already offers just
such a service in Germany.

In a nutshell
Pressure Equipment Directive
to become obligatory
Under European law the marketing of
pressure equipment with the respective
CE designation has already been permitted
since 29 November 1999. The
Pressure Vessel and Steam Boiler Regulations
are due to expire on 29 May 2002,
so from then onwards there will be no
alternative to the European directive
97/23/EC (Pressure Equipment directive).
The latter sets forth the structural
requirements for virtually every type of
pressure equipment. Several ways of
ISO 14001 now also number 1
in Germany
Not long ago, DEKRA-ITS spoke clearly
in favour of the internationally recognised
standard ISO 14001 for environmental
management (Auditorium
4/2001). This recommendation has now
been endorsed by a recent survey by the
Federal Office of the Environment. It
obtaining the CE designation are available
to the manufacturer – with differing
requirements depending on the
pressure device. The Notified Body will
inform you which devices are covered by
which directive and must undergo the
appropriate evaluation of conformity.

shows that since the last projection the
number of ISO 14001 certificates in
Germany has risen by about 40 % from
2400 to 3380, whereas there was a downward
trend in EMAS validations. This
means that ISO certification has now
taken the lead in Germany – in line
with Europe and the rest of the world.
