Militärische Grossübung zum Flughafenschutz
Military exercise for airport security
Vom 6. bis 29. September trainierte die Schweizer Armee mit rund
5 000 Armeeangehörigen den Schutz des Flughafens Zürich. An der
Übung «AEROPORTO 2010» beteiligt waren auch die Flughafen
Zürich AG, die Flughafenpolizei Zürich, Schutz & Rettung Zürich
sowie das Grenzwachtkorps. Für die eingesetzten Truppen ging es
in der Übung darum, möglichst rasch einen umfangreichen militärischen
Schutz am Flughafen Zürich aufzubauen. Für Flugbetrieb und
Passagiere entstanden keine Behinderungen.
From 6th to 29th September approximately 5,000 Swiss army
personnel carried out training procedures at Zurich Airport. Also
involved in the »AEROPORTO 2010« exercise were Flughafen Zürich
AG, Zurich Airport Police, City of Zurich Protection & Rescue and
the Border Guard Corps. The exercise focussed on deploying comprehensive
military protection for the airport as quickly and efficiently
as possible. Flight operations and passenger travel remained unrestricted
throughout.

Solar Impulse landete in Zürich
Solar Impulse lands in Zurich
Bertrand Piccards Solarflugzeug Solar Impulse ist am 22. September
2010 erstmals am Flughafen Zürich gelandet. Nach einem Flug von
Payerne quer durch die Schweiz setzte das Solarflugzeug auf Piste 34
auf. Ziel des Fluges war das Üben der Zusammenarbeit mit internationalen
Flughäfen sowie die sichere Navigation durch verkehrsreiche
Lufträume. Solar Impulse ist das erste mit Sonnenenergie angetriebene
Flugzeug, das am Flughafen Zürich gelandet ist.
Bertrand Piccard’s sun-powered aircraft Solar Impulse landed
for the first time at Zurich Airport on 22nd September 2010. Following
a flight across Switzerland from Payerne the graceful aircraft touched
down safely on runway 34. The aim of the flight was to trial cooperation
with international airports as well as put safe navigation in busy
airspaces to the test. Solar Impulse is the first ever solar-powered
aircraft to have landed at Zurich Airport.

Still Europe’s Best Airport
Zum siebten Mal in Folge hat der Flughafen Zürich den World Travel
Award erhalten. Kriterien der Bewertung waren die Vertriebsreichweite
in der Tourismusbranche, die Nutzerfreundlichkeit des Flughafens
sowie generelle Qualität von Produkten und Dienstleistungen. In seiner
Kategorie stach der Flughafen Zürich elf weitere nominierte Flughäfen
aus. Die Platzierungen des World Travel Award resultieren aus den
über das Internet erfassten Stimmabgaben von weltweit 185 000
Fachleuten aus der Tourismusbranche.
For the seventh consecutive year Zurich Airport has received
the World Travel Award for »Best European Airport«. The criteria
assessed for the award focus on the airport’s sales efforts in the tourism
branch, its user-friendliness and the general quality of products
and services on offer. Zurich Airport shrugged off challenges from
eleven other nominated airports to once again scoop the prize. The
World Travel Award ratings result from an Internet survey of 185,000
tourism experts from around the world.

Flughafen Zürich erhält Geothermiepreis 2010
Zurich Airport receives Geothermal Energy Prize 2010
Für seine innovative Energiegewinnung am Dock E hat der Flughafen
Zürich den Geothermiepreis 2010 erhalten. Der Preis würdigt die
Energiegewinnung für das Dock E mit sogenannten Energiepfählen.
Statisch bedingt wurde das Dock E mit 440 stehenden Bohrpfählen
fundiert, wovon gut drei Viertel als Energiepfähle genutzt werden.
Im Sommer wird Kälte aus dem Untergrund zur Kühlung des Docks
benutzt. Sommerwärme wird gespeichert und im Winter zum Heizen
verwendet. Insgesamt wird der Kälte­ und Wärmebedarf des Docks E
je zu zirka 70 Prozent mit den Pfählen gedeckt.
Zurich Airport has been awarded the Geothermal Energy Prize
2010 for its innovative energy generation at Dock E. The prize comes
in recognition of the use of so-called energy piles for generating
energy at Dock E. The dock was constructed on foundations comprising
440 bored piles, over three quarters of which are now used as
energy piles. In the summer the cold drawn from the deep foundations
will be used to cool the dock. Warmth generated in the summer months
will in turn be stored and used to heat during the winter. All in all
around 70 percent of the cooling and heating requirements of Dock E
will be provided by the piles.

Selfboarding-Test am Gate 67
Self boarding trial at Gate A67
Voraussichtlich noch bis Jahresende wird am Gate A67 eine Testreihe
mit Selfboarding­Schleusen durchgeführt. Die Tests mit den
sogenannten E­Gates sollen Aufschlüsse bezüglich Funktionalität,
Nutzerfreundlichkeit und Kapazität geben. Nach Ende der Testreihe
wird sich zeigen, ob das Selfboarding für Reisende und Mitarbeitende
eine Qualitäts- und Effizienzsteigerung bedeutet. Für Spezialfälle wie
Leute mit eingeschränkter Mobilität wird aber auch bei Selfboarding­
Schleusen Personal anwesend sein.
A series of tests with self-boarding gates is currently being carried
out at Gate A67. Tests with the ›E-Gates‹ will provide insight
into their functionality, user-friendliness and capacity. Upon completion
of this trial period the findings will be evaluated to assess whether
self boarding leads to an increase in boarding efficiency and quality
for both travellers and staff. For special circumstances, such as passengers
with restricted mobility, dedicated personnel will be on hand
at the gates. The tests are scheduled to run until the end of the year.

Neue Fluggastbrücke eingeweiht
New jetway bridge opened
Am 30. November 2010 ist die dritte Fluggastbrücke am Gate E67
dem Betrieb übergeben worden. Passagiere des Grossraumflugzeugs
Airbus A380 der Singapore Airline können künftig über drei Fluggastbrücken
ein­ und aussteigen. Mit der neuen Brücke kann auch das
Upper Deck des Airbus A380 direkt bedient werden. Für die Reisenden
bedeutet dies eine Komfortsteigerung, für die Flughafen Zürich AG
den Abschluss einer langen und sorgfältigen baulogistischen Planung.
On 30th November 2010 the third jetway bridge at Gate E67
was opened for passengers. Travellers can now board and disembark
Singapore Airline’s Airbus A380 via three such bridges. Moreover,
the new bridge enables direct access to the upper deck of the giant
Airbus A380. The result is greater boarding convenience for passengers
and the successful completion of a long and diligent structural
planning process for Flughafen Zürich AG.
