/ BEHIND THE SCENES
'DON'T ALWAYS COME OUT OF THE SAME HOLES!' whispered Buster Keaton to the
auditorium on receiving his honorary Oscar. He meant that we should not simply rely on
what we already know works. We are hugely proud of that fact that last year's Strolz catalogue
won the internationally coveted 'RED DOT AWARD 2016' (Denise Ender, Agentur DAVILLA,
Bregenz), yet we know that there is no failsafe 'RECIPE' or secret to success...
We started from scratch, wanting to try something completely new – just like Buster
Keaton. Denise Ender came up with the idea of getting a writer – a poet – to write phrases for
the catalogue. She approached ROBERT SCHNEIDER, an author whose debut novel 'SCHLAFES
BRUDER' (Brother of Sleep) was an international success and has been translated into 34
languages. Schneider agreed to write for Strolz and so a product catalogue was born featuring
poetry and thought-provoking phrases based on the knowledge that we have nothing in this
life but moments lived with intensity. This became the motto of the new work thanks to the
courage of STROLZ, who made such a daring venture possible.
Oh yes! The thing that makes us happiest of all: our photographer Florian has become
a father. No honour, no award, no prize in the world can compare to the miracle of birth.
