Waveguide-to-Waveguide
Transitions
Fairview Microwave, Inc. has
launched a new line of waveguide
transitions that operate
from 5.85 to 110 GHz across 14
frequency bands. These waveguide
adapters are ideal for high
power wireless applications such
as test benches, instrumentation,
Milcom, Satcom, telecom and
radar applications where signal
strength and integrity are critical.
Fairview’s new waveguide-towaveguide
transition series consists
of 23 unique models utilizing
a range of waveguide sizes
and frequencies. This product
line allows for smooth transitions
between different waveguide
sizes with minimal loss and SWR
as low as 1.08. Waveguide sizes
in this line range from WR-10
to WR-137. They are offered
with UG-style square cover and
round cover flanges, CPRG-style
or UBR-style flanges. These
new waveguide transitions are
made of rugged, gold-plated or
painted brass, depending on the
model. Mechanical lengths of
these adapters range from 1 to 6
inches. All models are REACH
and RoHS compliant.

Fractus Antennas
Library for Smart IoT
and 5G Devices
To accelerate the development
of wireless devices for Sigfox,
LoRa, narrowband internet of
things (NB-IoT), LTE-M, Bluetooth
and other IoT and 5G/LTE
networks, NI AWR Design Environment
software now includes
an extensible markup language
(XML) library for compact,
surface-mount antenna components
from Fractus Antennas
(NN). With the inclusion of these
antenna parts, RF designers can
rapidly address component integration
on a printed-circuit board
substrate through direct simulation
of the Fractus Antennas
part of choice, along with frontend
components such as power
amplifiers, low-noise amplifiers,
and filters, as well as any
required impedance matching.
Front-end component-to-antenna
matching can also be developed
using the network synthesis
module in Microwave Office
circuit design software to ensure
maximum power transfer between
RF driving circuitry and
the antenna. The Fractus Antennas
XML library is available
directly from within the elements
tab of NI AWR Design Environment
software.

Frequency
Synthesizer Operates
at 640 MHz
Z-Communications, Inc.
announced a new RoHS compliant
Fixed Frequency Synthesizer
model SFS0640A-LF in the
UHF frequency. The SFS0640A-
LF is a single frequency synthesizer
that operates at 640 MHz
with an external 10 MHz reference
and features a typical phase
noise of -100 dBc/Hz, -105 dBc/
Hz, and -124 dBc/Hz at the 1
kHz, 10 kHz and 100 kHz offsets,
respectively.
The SFS0640A-LF is designed
to deliver a typical output power
of 0 dBm with a VCO voltage
supply of 5 Vdc while drawing
25 mA (typical) and a phase
locked loop voltage of 3 Vdc
while drawing 9 mA (typical).
This Fixed Frequency Synthesizer
features a typical 2nd harmonic
suppression of -13 dBc and
spurious suppression of -70 dBc.
It is housed in Z-COMM’s standard
PLL-V12N package measuring
0.6 x 0.6 x 0.13 in. The
SFS0640A-LF is also ideal for
automated surface mount assembly
and is available in tape and
reel packaging. SFS0640A-LF
is an excellent choice for test
station and wireless radio applications,
and is specified for operation
over the industrial temperature
range of -40 to +85 °C.
