Admission requirements All applicants must have or obtain a first law degree (e.g. J.D., LL.B. or other
foreign equivalent) prior to enrolling in the program. Applications must include:
Current Résumé/CV, Personal Statement, Official Transcripts (from all graduate
and undergraduate studies)
Degree LL.M. (Master of Laws)
Duration, costs 9 months, full-time (one academic year); $54,000 tuition fees
Financing option Dean’s Tuition Fellowships (25%-50% of tuition)
Begin of studies August 2013 for enrollment in the 2013-2014 LL.M. Program
LL.M. students create their own program of study from our rich selection of advanced course offerings, and
take these courses alongside the law school’s Juris Doctor (J.D.) students. LL.M. students also have the ability,
should they choose, to pursue a specialized LL.M. degree in fields in which UCLA ranks among the top law
schools in the nation. With the approval of the Director of Graduate Studies, students may also develop their
own specializations in fields of their choice.
For more than 25 years, the LL.M. Program has attracted applicants from over 60 different countries across the
globe. We take pride in creating a diverse class of international and domestic students. Our LL.M. students come
from all walks of life and offer a wide range of unique backgrounds and perspectives.
The UCLA School of Law Office of Career Services (OCS) also includes a career counselor who is solely devoted
to assisting LL.M. students. In addition to counseling students on an individual basis, the counselor hosts
workshops on résumé preparation, job interviewing skills, and career networking tips, and organizes the West
Coast International LL.M. Job Fair, hosted each year by UCLA Law. OCS also prepares students to participate in
the international job fair held each year in New York, and assists students interested in pursuing the one-year
Optional Practical Training internship allowed under the terms of the F-1 visa.
