Therapie der Keratokonjunktivitis sicca.
Fazit für die Praxis
Für die Therapie des trockenen Auges werden
die Tränensubstitution und die Verbesserung
der Tränenfilmqualität sowie der Effizienz der
Tränennutzung weiterhin eine wichtige Rolle
spielen. Es haben sich jedoch gerade in den
letzten Jahren durch eine sehr zeit- und kostenintensive
Grundlagenforschung die
Kenntnisse der Physiologie und Pathophysiologie
der Augenoberfläche und des Tränenfilms
exponentiell vermehrt. Nur auf der Basis
solcher Erkenntnisse können Konzepte wachsen
und schließlich zu nutzbarem Wissen
werden. Die Zeit der „ersten Ernte“ scheint
jetzt in greifbare Nähe gerückt zu sein. Gelingt
es nun, innerhalb weniger Jahre, in neue
Dimensionen der Therapie des trockenen Auges
vorzustoßen, die in den letzten 20 Jahren
kaum erreichbar schienen? Weltweit warten
über 100 Millionen betroffene Menschen auf
eine Antwort.
