Wenn die nacht ins Museum kommt. // When night comes to the museum
dunkle Seite des Tages bringen will.
The name says it all // ‘Dark figures and red lanterns’ currently cast a
gloomy light at the Belvedere. They are part of the exhibition ‘Awakening
the Night’, which features exhibits from the Romantic period to the
present day to illuminate the dark side of the day. The subjects dealt with
range from the influence of the Greek goddess Nyx to Mozart’s Queen of
the Night and the bright sea of lights over our cities today that blocks our
view of the universe. In between, pictures about night work, the force of
nature, war and love await visitors – who should bring one thing with
them in particular, namely time, as the exhibition is not only interesting
but, with almost 300 exhibits, also quite extensive.
