Impressions of a girl from Brazil
"Well, it is not easy to leave your country,
your family, your friends, and go to another
country, with a different language and
culture, but I
have to say that
it is a really nice
experience. My
school in Brazil
is very similar
to the Carl-
Laemmle-Gymnasium.
The
subjects, the
way the lessons
are … But there
are some differences. The relationship with
others is different. Here there is a distance
between boys and girls and the groups of friends
are very close. In Brazil boys and girls
talk more with each other, they are closer,
and people have their best friends but they
always try to make new friends and they
spend their breaks with different people.
I’ve been in Germany for just five weeks
now and that‘s the impression I’ve got
from all my experiences here. The biggest
difference between Brazil and Germany for
me is the “social difference”. In Brazil that
is really big. You see the poor people and
the rich people and it is just crazy, because
the poor people are really poor, they don’t
have enough to
eat, and who is
rich is really
rich! Here in
Germany there
are no slums,
ghettos and
poor people
don’t have so
many difficulties.
Oh, the weather
is really different too! In Brazil it is really
hot! I was in Rio de Janeiro in July
(then it is winter in Brazil) and at the hottest
day there were 30°C! Germany is a really
wonderful country! I’m having a good
time here, learning a new language, meeting
new people, anew culture … I’m in
love with this country.“
