Kurt Gibson (past national president) and Sharon Neidel (zone
7 representative) came forward to make a special presentation
to Frederick Rauch, SVR’s president. PCA National had created
a special book covering the history of SVR’s 50 years, and Kurt
and Sharon presented the book and a certificate to Frederick who
accepted them on behalf of our club.
We had 15 past SVR presidents in attendance, representing
28 years’ worth of office. Also, as we have done at our CRAB
events, we had everyone stand up for a stretch. Then we asked
that people who had been members for 5 years or less sit down.
Then 10 years or less; then 15; and on and on. We got to 50 years
and I thought that I was done, but Larry and Pat Wilson were
still standing! They joined PCA in 1961, “way” before SVR was
founded!
Recognition awards were given to charter members Brad & Judy
Hawkes and John and Betty Meunier, but unfortunately, by the
time this part of the program rolled around, the other charter
members had already left! We will get their awards to them.
Also, recognition awards were presented to longtime membersupporters
Rik and Lettie Larson and Mike and Emily Willis.
Other member-supporters will be presented recognition awards as
we finish out the year.
As the sun had been long gone, the program ended and that
concluded our great event. Post-event clean-up went very quickly,
thanks to the many volunteers who stayed to help us out. As
we spent a few final moments assessing how the event went, we
were all very satisfied that everyone had a great time. Hard work
completed, it was finally time for all of us to head home to get
some well-deserved rest.
On behalf of the “50th Anniversary at Deaver” event committee,
I want to express a sincere Thank You to all who volunteered and
helped us pull off one of our best events ever! Without your help,
we simply would not have been able to do the event.
