Today was the day when we said our good byes.<br />

To the two brave men who recently died.<br />

They died doing their job, fighting a fire.<br />

To do what they did, they must be admired.<br />

They were saving the home <strong>of</strong> souls they didn't know<br />

With such courage that only a fireman could show.<br />

Something had happened, though what, we're not sure<br />

for two <strong>of</strong> the men did not return from their tour.<br />

Their brothers did search and found them together<br />

But it was too late. They were gone forever.<br />

A tragic event on that March day<br />

But the brother's courage and strength never would sway.<br />

The scene became somber since two lives were lost,<br />

Becoming a hero was not without cost.<br />

These two men paid with both <strong>of</strong> their lives<br />

And thus, we must now say our good byes.<br />

They took their final ride atop the red truck<br />

With all <strong>of</strong> the fervour, one could be awestruck.<br />

Between the two ladders with the procession<br />

They honored those men in the fire tradition.<br />

An immense sea <strong>of</strong> blue followed behind<br />

With the greatest support you'll ever find.<br />

A brotherhood so close you wouldn't believe<br />

and when it was finished no one could leave.<br />

For that seemed to mean they left a brother behind<br />

And firemen know that's not how they're designed.<br />

They were both given honors, their families proud<br />

Then the radio call was broadcast allowed,<br />

That two <strong>of</strong> the men would not return home<br />

But they'll journey together and not be alone.<br />

The last bell did ring and they were carried away<br />

But they remain in our hearts forever to stay.<br />

We mourn the loss <strong>of</strong> two brothers taken from us earlier than any <strong>of</strong> us would wish. We know however that they gave<br />

themselves for a community that the cared deeply for, doing a job that they truly loved. My condolances go out to both<br />

families and the department for this tragic loss.<br />
