STUDY ABROAD<br />

Studying abroad is a part of the <strong>European</strong> <strong>Business</strong><br />

<strong>School</strong> London (EBSL) learning experience that our<br />

students most look forward to. You will have an exciting<br />

choice of destinations for the two Study Periods Abroad<br />

(SPA) in Semesters 4 and 5.<br />

EBSL h<strong>as</strong> carefully selected over 90<br />

study-abroad partner institutions, b<strong>as</strong>ed<br />

on their academic excellence and the<br />

demand from students.<strong>The</strong>se institutions<br />

are located in 25 countries across the<br />

Studying abroad offers you the<br />

opportunity to reach a commanding<br />

level of fluency in your chosen<br />

language(s) and to study specialist<br />

options that will take you closer<br />

towards your chosen career.<br />

During your SPA, you will attend<br />

selected academic courses alongside<br />

students who are native speakers of<br />

the language and, in most c<strong>as</strong>es, you will<br />

take the same examinations <strong>as</strong> they do.<br />

<strong>The</strong>re is no question that you will come<br />

back a different person. Study abroad<br />

is a stimulating experience and highly<br />

prized by employers.<br />

Employers are keen to recruit from<br />

EBSL because of the value study abroad<br />

adds to our degree programmes,<br />

enabling our students to e<strong>as</strong>ily adapt<br />

to diverse academic and cultural<br />

environments and to become flexible<br />

and experienced business professionals.<br />

<strong>The</strong> SPA is a highly demanding<br />

experience, and you will need to be well<br />

prepared before you go.To be eligible,<br />

you must have successfully completed<br />

all the core modules of your degree<br />

at Level 4 and Level 5.This includes all<br />

relevant language courses.<br />

Your choice of location for your SPA<br />

will be b<strong>as</strong>ed on the language(s) you<br />

are specialising in, <strong>as</strong> well <strong>as</strong> on a close<br />

match between the specialist expertise<br />

of the host institution and your own<br />

developing career plan.<br />

<strong>The</strong> International Partnerships Office<br />

and SPA advisers offer personal<br />

guidance to ensure that you select the<br />

most appropriate partner institution.<br />

I have gained very good French language skills and an understanding of the differences<br />

between <strong>European</strong> cultures. Going to live in a French-speaking environment for a year<br />

after only having studied the language for three semesters seemed daunting at first, but<br />

turned out to be the experience of a lifetime.<br />

EBSL participates in the LLP-Er<strong>as</strong>mus<br />

programme and in the <strong>European</strong> Credit<br />

Transfer System.<strong>The</strong> <strong>School</strong> holds the<br />

Er<strong>as</strong>mus University Charter, awarded<br />

in 2003 by the <strong>European</strong> Commission,<br />

and is now a holder of the Extended<br />

Er<strong>as</strong>mus University charter.<br />

Applications from External Students<br />

We welcome applications from<br />

Study Abroad and Exchange students<br />

(including Er<strong>as</strong>mus students) who<br />

wish to study at EBSL for one or two<br />

semesters <strong>as</strong> part of their degree.To<br />

apply, you must have completed at le<strong>as</strong>t<br />

one full year of your undergraduate<br />

programme before coming to EBSL.<br />

You can apply for either the autumn<br />

(September) or spring (February)<br />

intake.You must ensure that you secure<br />

approval from your home institution to<br />

study here, and for all the modules you<br />

plan to take at EBSL.<br />
