INFORMATION FOR DISABLED STUDENTS<br />

Regent’s College seeks to ensure that<br />

all students can participate fully <strong>as</strong> equal<br />

members of the learning community.<br />

We will make every re<strong>as</strong>onable effort to<br />

support students with a disability, including<br />

physical impairments, specific learning<br />

difficulties and mental health conditions.<br />

Disclosure on application<br />

If you have a condition that could affect your ability to participate<br />

in your chosen course or in campus life, we would strongly<br />

encourage you to tell us about it when you apply.You can find out<br />

more from the disability information pages on our website.<br />

Once you have told us, our Disability Officer will contact you<br />

to discuss your support needs. If you have not already told us<br />

about a disability, and require specific support, ple<strong>as</strong>e contact the<br />

Disability Officer <strong>as</strong> soon <strong>as</strong> possible after you arrive.<br />

If you have a specific learning difficulty, such <strong>as</strong> dyslexia, we <strong>as</strong>k<br />

you to provide a diagnostic report from a suitably qualified<br />

professional.This is so that we can <strong>as</strong>sess your needs appropriately<br />

and make any necessary adjustments.<strong>The</strong> <strong>as</strong>sessment should have<br />

been carried out when you were aged 16 or older. If it is in a<br />

foreign language, ple<strong>as</strong>e provide an English translation.<br />

If you suspect that you may have a specific learning difficulty, but<br />

have not been diagnosed, ple<strong>as</strong>e <strong>as</strong>k the Disability Officer about<br />

our free screening service.<br />

Any data that we collect about you is stored on the College’s<br />

secure student record system, which may only be accessed by<br />

authorised staff.<br />

Improving access to College facilities<br />

We are committed to improving access to and within the<br />

College buildings.<strong>The</strong>re is a continuing programme to facilitate<br />

access around the campus with ramps, lifts and automatic doors.<br />

Some cl<strong>as</strong>ses, however, are delivered in teaching rooms that<br />

can only be reached by stairs. If you have a condition that<br />

affects your mobility and you require ground floor rooms or<br />

rooms with lift access, you should contact Student Registry.<br />

Funding<br />

UK students (and those with ‘settled’ status) can apply for<br />

the Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA). Details on what<br />

the allowance can be used for and how to apply can be<br />

found on our website.<strong>The</strong> Disability Officer can <strong>as</strong>sist you<br />

with your application.<br />
