American Mining has recently started writing insurance in several
additional western states including Montana. We may be new to
Montana, but we’ve specialized in providing insurance protection to
the mining industry since 1989. As American Mining has grown and
expanded geographically, it has become the preferred provider of
insurance coverages to many within the mining and aggregates industries.
Offering primarily Workers’ Compensation insurance, American
Mining also provides General Liability, Pollution Liability, Commercial
Automobile and Umbrella coverage.
In 2007, American Mining became a part of the W. R. Berkley
Corporation (NYSE: BER). As a part of the W. R. Berkley Corporation,
American Mining Insurance Company has even greater financial
strength, an A. M. Best rating of A+ (Superior), and the ability to grow
and expand into additional states. This expansion includes significant
growth in the western United States, including Montana.

Though American Mining is a recent addition to the W. R. Berkley
Corporation, the leadership remains the same and continues to show a
long-term commitment to the company and to the mining industry.
Chandler F. Cox, Jr., American Mining's president and chief executive
officer, and Dominick Giovannelli, its executive vice president and chief
financial officer, co-founded American Mining in 1989 and each have
over 25 years of experience in the insurance industry.
William R. Berkley, chairman of the board and chief executive officer
of W. R. Berkley Corporation, says, “The operations of American
Mining have a special expertise in addressing the insurance needs of
the mining operations marketplace, and should benefit from the additional
resources that W. R. Berkley Corporation can offer.”
This expertise extends throughout the company. Many employees
