Work can only proceed if these
questions can be answered satisfactorily.
While answering the questions
doesn’t take long, the answers often
result in some extra preparation time
to ensure the job can be done safely
and efficiently. But being prepared
and understanding the risks always
results in a better “job done”.
While the Field Level Risk Assess -
ment is the work horse at the mine,
we have various levels of risk assessment,
as described below, to address
different types of situations such as:
Team-Level Risk Assessment: Im -
por tant for tasks that involve interaction
between two or more people,
particularly non-routine tasks for
which there are no written standard
operating procedures.
Formal Risk Assessment: A proactive
process to eliminate risks prior to
the start of work, during the planning
phase of the job, it typically involves
three or more people planning every
