OUR PHILOSOPHY<br />

The Brandywine Y believes in providing comprehensive<br />

camp programs, which foster <strong>the</strong> social, cultural, physical<br />

and emotional development <strong>of</strong> children <strong>of</strong> all ages. All<br />

activities reflect <strong>the</strong> character values <strong>of</strong> caring, honesty<br />

respect and responsibility. We create an opportunity for<br />

children to enhance <strong>the</strong>ir self esteem, build friendship<br />

skills, develop greater independence and give <strong>the</strong>m a<br />

sense <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir creative potential in a safe, fun and<br />

nurturing environment.<br />

DEAR PARENTS,<br />

The Y has over 50 years experience in <strong>the</strong> camping business.<br />

Your child’s safety and self-esteem is a tremendous<br />

responsibility and high priority in all <strong>of</strong> our programs. The<br />

Brandywine Y Camp Leadership Team knows how much<br />

impact camp can have on a child’s life and for that reason<br />

we take our career choice and responsibilities very seriiously.<br />

Our camp team works year-round to maintain <strong>the</strong><br />

best camp traditions and experiences, and hire and<br />

train <strong>the</strong> best staff available to guide your children. Our<br />

goal is to create opportunities for campers to enhance<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir self esteem, build friendship skills, develop greater<br />

independence, tap into <strong>the</strong>ir creative potential and most<br />

<strong>of</strong> all to be silly and have fun. We are thrilled your family<br />

has chosen to share a part <strong>of</strong> your summer with us. We<br />

hope to challenge your child to try new things, enjoy new<br />

physical and creative activities, and create friendships<br />

GENERAL<br />

INFORMATION<br />

MEMBERSHIP<br />

Campers need to be members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Y <strong>of</strong> <strong>Delaware</strong>. Full members<br />

receive a reduced rate. A one year program membership is available<br />

for $39, at <strong>the</strong> membership desk.<br />

Registration: Full Members, Monday, January 30<br />

HOW TO REGISTER<br />

•Completed enrollment/health form, registration form, & copy <strong>of</strong><br />

immunization record for each camper.<br />

•Mail, fax or drop <strong>of</strong>f at membership desk <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Brandywine Y,<br />

attention Gina Kapa, Camp Registrar.<br />

•On line registration is available at www.ymcade.org.<br />

•Registration is confirmed by mail when all completed forms are<br />

received and deposits paid in full.<br />

CAMP DEPOSITS<br />

•Full day camps, 9:00-4:00 pm; $60 deposit per session at <strong>the</strong><br />

time <strong>of</strong> registration.<br />

•Half day camps -9:00-12:00 or 1:00-4:00 pm<br />

$30 deposit per session at <strong>the</strong> time <strong>of</strong> registration.<br />

•AM/PM care does not require deposit.<br />

•Deposits are non-refundable, but are transferable to ano<strong>the</strong>r<br />

camp session in 2012.<br />

PAYMENTS<br />

•All balances must be paid in full 2 weeks prior to <strong>the</strong> start <strong>of</strong> each<br />

registered camp, including AM/PM care if necessary. Failure to pay<br />

balance will result in cancellation <strong>of</strong> your registration.<br />

•Automatic withdrawal is available from your checking, savings, or<br />

credit card account. Use bank draft form at back <strong>of</strong> this brochure.<br />

Forms are also available on-line at www.ymcade.org.<br />

ADDING OR CANCELLING SESSIONS<br />

•Use camp change form available in this brochure, on <strong>the</strong> internet<br />

or email request to rkapa@ymcade.org. Change forms are also<br />

available at <strong>the</strong> front desk <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Y.<br />

•A change form is necessary for each child attending.<br />

OPEN DOORS - FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE<br />

The Y strives to serve everyone in our community, regardless <strong>of</strong><br />

individual economic circumstances. Financial aid applications for<br />

Y programs and membership are available at <strong>the</strong> front desk. The<br />

application process is confidential and requires pro<strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>of</strong> financial need. A maximum <strong>of</strong> 4 weeks per camper is provided.<br />

Financial assistance is made possible through contributions to<br />

<strong>the</strong> Brandywine Y Strong Kids Campaign.<br />

CAMP RESPITE – MUST BE DELAWARE RESIDENT<br />

If you are 50 years <strong>of</strong> age or older and are raising your<br />

grandchildren or <strong>the</strong> children <strong>of</strong> relatives, this program provides<br />

<strong>the</strong> opportunity to send your children to a Y camp. Camp Respite<br />

is funded through local and federal organizations. Costs are<br />

decided individually and on a sliding fee scale. Call Gina Kapa,<br />

478-9622, ext. 61 for more information.<br />

SAFETY<br />

•Staff is trained in CPR, first aid, emergency procedures<br />

and child abuse prevention.<br />

•Ellis licensed lifeguards & trained swimming instructors<br />

are on duty during all free swims and swimming instruction.<br />

•Campers are pretested to identify <strong>the</strong>ir individual swimming<br />

ability and receive a bracelet identifying <strong>the</strong>ir level.<br />

•Non-swimmers unable to recover to a standing position<br />

are required to wear a U.S. Coast Guard approved lifejacket<br />

during free swims.<br />

CAMP CODE OF CONDUCT<br />

We require that camp staff and campers treat each o<strong>the</strong>r<br />

in accordance with <strong>the</strong> character values <strong>of</strong> caring, honesty,<br />

respect and responsibility.<br />

POSITIVE GUIDANCE<br />

Counselors will encourage appropriate choices and make<br />

every effort to redirect inappropriate behavior. Parents<br />

will be called to work with <strong>the</strong> counselor and camper to<br />

achieve a positive outcome. Campers who repeatedly<br />

misbehave or put <strong>the</strong>mselves or o<strong>the</strong>r camp participants<br />

in harm’s way may be dismissed from <strong>the</strong> camp program.<br />

BUS TRANSPORTATION<br />

•Bus transportation is <strong>of</strong>fered to campers attending any<br />

camps at <strong>the</strong> Hanby Outdoor Center.<br />

•There is no mid-day transportation for camps ending at<br />

12:00 noon.<br />

•Extended care participants using <strong>the</strong> Y site can be transported<br />

to (am) or from (pm) <strong>the</strong> Hanby Outdoor Center.<br />

•Campers remaining on <strong>the</strong> bus at <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> route will<br />

return: Bus 1 to Central Y; Bus 2 & 3 to camp or <strong>the</strong> Y<br />

and parents will be notified for pick up.<br />

4:00 PM PICK UP AT THE HANBY OUTDOOR CENTER<br />

•Campers need to be picked up promptly at 4:00 pm in<br />

<strong>the</strong> circle at <strong>the</strong> entrance to <strong>the</strong> Hanby Outdoor Center.<br />

•Please remain in your car. Staff will bring your camper<br />

to you. Picture ID is necessary.<br />

EARLY DISMISSAL/LATE ARRIVAL<br />

•A written note to camper's counselor is necessary with date,<br />

time, and who is picking up.<br />

•Parents or guardians are required to sign out <strong>the</strong> camper and<br />

may be asked to present photo ID.<br />

•Late arrivals must check in at camp <strong>of</strong>fice.<br />

WHAT TO WEAR<br />

•Sunscreen your child every morning before you leave <strong>the</strong> house.<br />

•Comfortable, lightweight clothing and old sneakers are best.<br />

•Label everything with your camper’s name.<br />

•Campers may wear <strong>the</strong>ir swim suit to camp.<br />

•Specialty camps may need specific supplies and/or sport<br />

equipment.<br />

SUNSCREEN<br />

•Please apply sun screen to your camper before <strong>the</strong>y arrive to camp.<br />

We supply ocean potion sunscreen for our campers at our sun<br />

screen station.<br />

•Sun screen station will be a part <strong>of</strong> your campers schedule<br />

oAfter swim instruction in <strong>the</strong> morning<br />

oAfter free swim in <strong>the</strong> afternoon<br />

•Ocean Potion active ingredients: Homosalate 10.0%, Octisalate<br />

5.0%, Avobenzone 2.0%, Octocrylene 2%.<br />

•Campers that are sensitive to <strong>the</strong> sun should wear hats, sleeved<br />

shirts and a swim shirt for <strong>the</strong> pool.<br />

SWIMMING<br />

Swimming is an integral part <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> camp program for both health<br />

and safety reasons.<br />

•A swim suit and towel is needed daily. All full day campers, except<br />

Pioneers, participate in daily swim instruction and free swim.<br />

•A note is necessary to excuse your camper from swimming due<br />

to an illness or injury.<br />

LOST AND FOUND<br />

•All lost and found items are folded and placed on shelves in <strong>the</strong><br />

lost & found area.<br />

•Please encourage your child to check for lost items promptly.<br />

•Items are kept for only one week after <strong>the</strong> session ends and<br />

<strong>the</strong>n donated to a local homeless shelter.<br />

PERSONAL PROPERTY<br />

•CD players, I-Pods, electronics, money, watches, jewelry or o<strong>the</strong>r<br />

valuable items should be left at home. We are not responsible for<br />

<strong>the</strong> safety <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se items.<br />

INCLEMENT WEATHER – CAMP IS OPEN!<br />

•Wet wea<strong>the</strong>r makes it feel chilly outside even when it’s warm.<br />

Campers should wear pants, sweatshirt, boots, raincoat.<br />

•In extreme wea<strong>the</strong>r conditions, campers may be transported to<br />

a local venue by bus or Y van.<br />

•Campers should bring <strong>the</strong>ir swim suit and towel in case <strong>the</strong><br />

wea<strong>the</strong>r clears.<br />

ILLNESS AND INJURY<br />

•Please do not send your child to camp if he/she is not feeling<br />

well in <strong>the</strong> morning.<br />

•Parents are responsible for picking up <strong>the</strong>ir ill child immediately.<br />

•Camp staff will treat minor injuries (small cuts, scrapes, bumps,etc.)<br />

and log <strong>the</strong> incident in <strong>the</strong> health log.<br />

•Parents are notified immediately for illnesses or injuries that need<br />

fur<strong>the</strong>r medical attention.<br />

•Campers who require immediate medical attention are taken to<br />

AI duPont Hospital for Children.<br />

MEDICATION<br />

•Form, available at camp <strong>of</strong>fice, must be completed by a<br />

parent before medication can be administered.<br />

•Medications need to be brought to <strong>the</strong> camp <strong>of</strong>fice by<br />

parent/guardian in <strong>the</strong> original container. Do not send in<br />

with your camper.<br />

•Please DO NOT send more than a one week supply <strong>of</strong><br />

medication at a time.<br />

•Parents should pick up leftover medication in a timely<br />

manner. Any medication left at <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> summer<br />

will be discarded.<br />

LUNCH<br />

•Full day campers need a non-perishable lunch and beverage<br />

daily except on cookout days. The best lunch bag is a<br />

gallon zip lock bag with camper’s name. Lunches are refrigerated.<br />

•A non-perishable snack (cookies, crackers, etc) packed<br />

separately from <strong>the</strong>ir lunch is recommended for morning<br />

and/or afternoon snacks.<br />

•Water bottles labeled with your child’s name should be<br />

brought everyday.<br />

•Ice cream and drinks are sold every day at lunchtime.<br />

Ice cream prices range from $.50 to $1.50; drinks $1.25.<br />

•No lunch is required for 1/2 day camps.<br />

COOKOUTS<br />

•No lunch necessary on cookout days.<br />

•Explorers and Adventurers – Thursdays<br />

•Voyager and Pioneers – Wednesdays<br />

•Sports Camps at Hanby Outdoor Center - Fridays<br />

•Hot dogs, baked chips, and a beverage are provided.<br />

Y SPECIALTY CAMPS – LUNCH BOX CREW<br />

12:00-1:00 PM<br />

Provided for campers attending a morning and afternoon<br />

half day camp at <strong>the</strong> Y. Staff will make sure your camper gets<br />

to his/her afternoon camp. There is no fee for this service.<br />

CAMP QUOOWANT<br />

ENTERING K - COMPLETING 9TH GRADE<br />

Held at <strong>the</strong> Hanby Outdoor Center, located on Chestnut Street, connecting Marsh & Darley Rds. Monday – Friday, 9:00-4:00 pm.<br />

Campers may arrive 15 minutes prior to <strong>the</strong> start <strong>of</strong> camp. Campers receive a free camp t-shirt <strong>the</strong> first week <strong>the</strong>y attend.<br />

AM and PM care is also available, 7:00-9:00 am; 4:00-6:00 pm.<br />

EXPLORERS 7210 (GIRLS), 7211 (BOYS)<br />

Activities are centered around a weekly <strong>the</strong>me. Campers participate<br />

in a daily “POW-WOW”, to find out about <strong>the</strong> day’s activities, learn<br />

camp songs and be silly with <strong>the</strong> entire Explorer group. Staff<br />

encourage our youngest campers to meet new friends, try new<br />

activities, become responsible for <strong>the</strong>ir belongings and have fun.<br />

Activities include daily morning swim lessons, afternoon free swim,<br />

cookouts on Thursdays and a special activity is planned on Fridays.<br />

Campers should bring lunch, water bottle, swim suit, towel and<br />

sunscreen daily.<br />

Ages: Entering Kindergarten thru completed 1st grade<br />

Fees: Full Member: $212 / Program Member: $248<br />

Session 4 (no camp 7/4):<br />

Full Member: $168 / Program Member $200<br />

ADVENTURERS 7212 (GIRLS), 7213 (BOYS)<br />

Activities and POW-WOW are based around <strong>the</strong> week’s <strong>the</strong>me.<br />

Adventure campers will live <strong>the</strong> <strong>the</strong>me all week. Staff are full <strong>of</strong><br />

camp spirit and encourage new friendships, trying new activities,<br />

caring and respecting o<strong>the</strong>rs in <strong>the</strong> group and becoming more<br />

independent. Activities include daily morning swim lessons and an<br />

afternoon free swim. Field trips are scheduled every Wednesday to<br />

local state parks, bowling, or skating rinks. Thursday is cookout<br />

day and a special activity is planned every Friday. Campers should<br />

bring lunch, water bottle, swim suit, towel and sunscreen daily.<br />

Ages: Campers who have completed 2nd-3rd grade<br />

Fees: Full Member: $222 / Program Member: $258<br />

Session 4 (no camp 7/4)<br />

EXTENDED DAY- 7:00 TO 9:00 AM OR 4:00 TO 6:00 PM.<br />

AM and PM care is a supervised, partially structured time which<br />

allows children to ei<strong>the</strong>r relax and prepare for <strong>the</strong> day or wind<br />

down after a long day at camp. A variety <strong>of</strong> activities will be made<br />

available if campers choose to participate. Snack is provided.<br />

Campers signed up for AM care will be taken to <strong>the</strong>ir appropriate<br />

camp. Campers signed up for PM care will return to extended care<br />

at <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir camp day. On rainy days, AM and PM care will<br />

meet in <strong>the</strong> barn.<br />

Voyager campers are given <strong>the</strong> opportunity to choose <strong>the</strong><br />

activities <strong>the</strong>y’d like to participate in each day. Staff encourage<br />

campers to work cooperatively and make good choices. We also<br />

encourage <strong>the</strong>m to lead by example on how to be a model camper<br />

for our younger campers. Campers participate daily in a morning<br />

swim lesson and afternoon free swim. Voyagers cook out on<br />

Wednesdays, and take <strong>of</strong>f-site trips on Thursdays. Campers<br />

should bring lunch, water bottle, swim suit, towel and sunscreen<br />

daily.<br />

Ages: Campers who have completed 4th-5th grade<br />

Fees: Full Member: $228 / Program Member: $264<br />

Session 4 (no camp 7/4)<br />

PIONEERS 7216 (GIRLS), 7217 (BOYS)<br />

Pioneer campers are challenged with interesting activities, can<br />

choose to assist with o<strong>the</strong>r camp activities or socialize and hang<br />

out with friends. Pioneers cookout on Wednesday and join <strong>the</strong><br />

Voyager’s <strong>of</strong>f-site trip on Thursday. Campers should bring lunch,<br />

water bottle, swim suit, towel and sun screen daily.<br />

Ages: Campers who have completed 6th-7th grade<br />

Fees: Full Member: $228 / Program Member: $264<br />

Session 4 (no camp 7/4)<br />

Full Member: $183 / Program Member $212<br />

LEADERS IN TRAINING (7601)<br />

LITs learn skills that enable <strong>the</strong>m to lead groups and <strong>the</strong>n<br />

put <strong>the</strong>ir skills to use <strong>the</strong> last two weeks <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> session.<br />

Activities include icebreakers, training, group work, special<br />

events, games, free time and swimming. Campers need to apply.<br />

Packets will be available in early February at <strong>the</strong> front desk <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> Y. Please make sure to have your application, completed<br />

references and choose an interview date. Campers should bring<br />

lunch, sunscreen, swim suit, and towel, and most important <strong>of</strong><br />

CAMP KODA<br />

AGES: 2 - 5 YEARS OLD<br />

A summer camp program for preschoolers ages 2 through Kindergarten held at <strong>the</strong> Brandywine Y, Monday through Friday, 9 am to<br />

SESSION 1 – JUNE 11-15<br />

GOLF CAMP (7509)<br />

Campers are transported to <strong>the</strong> Eric MacCluen Golf Academy<br />

located at Applecross Country Club to receive instruction and<br />

work on <strong>the</strong> basic swing, rules and etiquette <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> game. Advanced<br />

campers will work on different types <strong>of</strong> shots. Campers<br />

will play <strong>the</strong> course when available. The academy does have<br />

equipment for campers to use but if campers have golf equipment,<br />

<strong>the</strong>y should bring it with <strong>the</strong>m. We will keep <strong>the</strong>ir equipment<br />

at camp during <strong>the</strong> week. Campers should dress in proper<br />

golf attire each day (walking shorts, collared shirt or golf outfit<br />

for girls). Campers return to <strong>the</strong> Hanby Outdoor Center around<br />

200 pm and join in on camp activities. Cookout lunch on Friday.<br />

TEEN CAMPS<br />

COMPLETED 3RD - 9TH GRADE<br />

LEADERS IN TRAINING (7601)<br />

LITs learn skills that enable <strong>the</strong>m to lead groups and put <strong>the</strong>ir skills<br />

to use <strong>the</strong> last two weeks <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> session. Activities include<br />

icebreakers, training, group work, special events, games, free time<br />

and swimming. Campers need to apply. Packets will be available in<br />

early February at <strong>the</strong> front desk <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>YMCA</strong>. Please make sure to<br />

have your application, completed references and choose an<br />

explore all aspects <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ater from acting and directing, set design<br />

and advertising to create a play directed and performed entirely by<br />

<strong>the</strong>m. Campers will perform <strong>the</strong>ir play for family and friends at <strong>the</strong><br />

dodgeball. Campers also take part in traditional day camp activities<br />

such as recreational swim, camp games and nature walks. Parents<br />

will be notified <strong>of</strong> trip schedules before <strong>the</strong> start <strong>of</strong> camp. Campers<br />

need lunch, except on Fridays. Water bottle, swim suit, towel and<br />

Prepare for those summer babysitting jobs! In addition to regular<br />

Super Sitter training, campers will have hands-on child care<br />

experience and be trained in infant and child CPR. A special onehour<br />

pool safety class is also included. Baby-sitter’s resource book,<br />

first aid manual, CPR books and certification included. Y ID card<br />

is awarded at <strong>the</strong> completion <strong>of</strong> this course (you must attend all<br />

JOURNEYS AND STRONG ENOUGH CAMP (7346)<br />

A wellness camp for teens ages 10-14 yrs old; must be 10 yrs old<br />

at <strong>the</strong> start <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> program. Fitness staff will focus on <strong>the</strong> proper<br />

use <strong>of</strong> equipment in <strong>the</strong> Wellness Center. Campers also receive two<br />

hours <strong>of</strong> classroom activities focusing on building self esteem by<br />

learning skills to help deal with emotional and social changes that<br />

occur during <strong>the</strong> early teen years. Campers receive a lanyard at <strong>the</strong><br />

end <strong>of</strong> camp to continue <strong>the</strong>ir workouts independently in <strong>the</strong><br />

HANBY POOL<br />

Every camper who attends camp at <strong>the</strong> Hanby Outdoor Center will have <strong>the</strong> opportunity to swim in <strong>the</strong> refreshing Olympic size swimming<br />

pool during <strong>the</strong>ir day at camp. Some campers take swimming lessons, while o<strong>the</strong>rs will enjoy free swim. Every child will have <strong>the</strong> opportunity<br />

to swim in <strong>the</strong> afternoon and cool <strong>of</strong>f from a fun day at camp<br />

At <strong>the</strong> Brandywine Y, we take <strong>the</strong> safety <strong>of</strong> our<br />

aquatic facility very seriously. Swimming lessons are taught<br />

by licensed guards. The pool is guarded by lifeguards who attend<br />

weekly in-service training to maintain <strong>the</strong>ir skills in <strong>the</strong> event <strong>of</strong><br />

an emergency. During free swims, we have lifeguards<br />

managing <strong>the</strong> pool in addition to support from camp counselors<br />

and supervisors. Each camper has <strong>the</strong>ir skills assessed on <strong>the</strong><br />

first day <strong>of</strong> each session to determine <strong>the</strong>ir swimming level<br />

and are assigned a bracelet based on his/her skills.<br />

Once everyone knows <strong>the</strong> rules <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> pool and we have assessed<br />

everyone’s skills, <strong>the</strong> FUN BEGINS and does not end until <strong>the</strong> end<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> camp season in August.<br />

THE OUTDOOR POOL IS OPEN TO MEMBERS<br />

Please be aware that Monday-Friday <strong>the</strong>re will be times you will be sharing <strong>the</strong> pool with <strong>the</strong> campers.<br />

THE SLIDE IS A HIGHLIGHT<br />

OF OUR OUTDOOR POOL.<br />

In order to go down <strong>the</strong> slide during <strong>the</strong> camp<br />

day, campers will be asked to take a test. While this can be<br />

a little scary for some but it is necessary to ensure <strong>the</strong> safety<br />

<strong>of</strong> anyone going down <strong>the</strong> slide. The slide does have a current,<br />

and we need to make sure that every person using <strong>the</strong> slide<br />

is a strong swimmer.<br />

Before using <strong>the</strong> slide, each camper will be asked to<br />

• jump into 5 feet <strong>of</strong> water<br />

• swim <strong>the</strong> length <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> pool<br />

• tread or float for 30 seconds<br />

After successful completion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> swim test, <strong>the</strong> camper<br />

receives a green band and can use <strong>the</strong> slide!<br />

Camp<br />

Bus transportation is provided ONLY to <strong>the</strong> HANBY OUTDOOR CENTER. Campers using AM/PM CARE at <strong>the</strong> Brandywine Y will be<br />

transported to or from <strong>the</strong> Hanby Outdoor Center for <strong>the</strong>ir camp day. THERE IS NO MID-DAY TRANSPORTATION.<br />

PREVIOUS TO BOARDING<br />

Campers should arrive at least 10 minutes prior to <strong>the</strong> stop time listed and conduct <strong>the</strong>mselves in a safe manner while waiting.<br />

Please respect <strong>the</strong> property rights <strong>of</strong> people residing near <strong>the</strong> bus stop.<br />

Wait until <strong>the</strong> bus comes to a complete stop before entering <strong>the</strong> bus.<br />

The bus counselor will check-in all campers on <strong>the</strong> bus.<br />

PARENTS<br />

Campers who are not registered will not be permitted on <strong>the</strong> bus. Please wait at <strong>the</strong> bus stop with your camper until <strong>the</strong> bus arrives.<br />

Campers 7 yrs old and under must have an adult/parent meet <strong>the</strong>m at <strong>the</strong> stop. If your child does not get <strong>of</strong>f <strong>the</strong> bus, please call <strong>the</strong> camp<br />

<strong>of</strong>fice, 475-0700 and we will make arrangements for pickup. The Y cannot be responsible for campers before <strong>the</strong> bus picks <strong>the</strong>m up or<br />

after <strong>the</strong>y are dropped <strong>of</strong>f. If <strong>the</strong>re is any question about how your camper is to go home, he/she will remain at <strong>the</strong> Hanby Outdoor Center<br />

and you will be notified to pick him/her up <strong>the</strong>re.<br />

WHILE ON THE BUS<br />

The driver <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> bus has complete authority while transporting campers. If behavior problems repeatedly occur or become severe, <strong>the</strong><br />

bus driver will confer with <strong>the</strong> camp director in <strong>the</strong> event that behavior warrants suspension or revocation <strong>of</strong> riding privileges.<br />

• Campers must obey <strong>the</strong> driver and bus counselor promptly.<br />

• Loud laughter, talking and confusion divert <strong>the</strong> driver’s attention and may result in a serious accident.<br />

• Remain in your seat while <strong>the</strong> bus is in motion. Keep hands, head and arms inside <strong>the</strong> bus at all times.<br />

• Keep <strong>the</strong> aisle clear.<br />

• Food and beverages are not permitted.<br />

• Do not throw anything in, out or around <strong>the</strong> bus.<br />

• Scuffling, fighting, touching o<strong>the</strong>rs and pr<strong>of</strong>ane or indecent language is strictly forbidden.<br />

The Explorer Friendship Fire gives our youngest group <strong>of</strong> campers <strong>the</strong> opportunity to do<br />

something special at camp. The Friendship Fire includes crafts, games and a cookout.<br />
