MEMBERSHIP<br />
Campers need to be members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Y <strong>of</strong> <strong>Delaware</strong>. Full members<br />
receive a reduced rate. A one year program membership is available<br />
for $39, at <strong>the</strong> membership desk.<br />
Registration: Full Members, Monday, January 30<br />
Program Members, February 6<br />
HOW TO REGISTER<br />
•Completed enrollment/health form, registration form, & copy <strong>of</strong><br />
immunization record for each camper.<br />
•Mail, fax or drop <strong>of</strong>f at membership desk <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Brandywine Y,<br />
attention Gina Kapa, Camp Registrar.<br />
•On line registration is available at www.ymcade.org.<br />
•Registration is confirmed by mail when all completed forms are<br />
received and deposits paid in full.<br />
CAMP DEPOSITS<br />
•Full day camps, 9:00-4:00 pm; $60 deposit per session at <strong>the</strong><br />
time <strong>of</strong> registration.<br />
•Half day camps -9:00-12:00 or 1:00-4:00 pm<br />
$30 deposit per session at <strong>the</strong> time <strong>of</strong> registration.<br />
•AM/PM care does not require deposit.<br />
•Deposits are non-refundable, but are transferable to ano<strong>the</strong>r<br />
camp session in 2012.<br />
PAYMENTS<br />
•All balances must be paid in full 2 weeks prior to <strong>the</strong> start <strong>of</strong> each<br />
registered camp, including AM/PM care if necessary. Failure to pay<br />
balance will result in cancellation <strong>of</strong> your registration.<br />
•Automatic withdrawal is available from your checking, savings, or<br />
credit card account. Use bank draft form at back <strong>of</strong> this brochure.<br />
Forms are also available on-line at www.ymcade.org.<br />
ADDING OR CANCELLING SESSIONS<br />
•Use camp change form available in this brochure, on <strong>the</strong> internet<br />
or email request to rkapa@ymcade.org. Change forms are also<br />
available at <strong>the</strong> front desk <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Y.<br />
•A change form is necessary for each child attending.<br />
OPEN DOORS - FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE<br />
The Y strives to serve everyone in our community, regardless <strong>of</strong><br />
individual economic circumstances. Financial aid applications for<br />
Y programs and membership are available at <strong>the</strong> front desk. The<br />
application process is confidential and requires pro<strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>of</strong> financial need. A maximum <strong>of</strong> 4 weeks per camper is provided.<br />
Financial assistance is made possible through contributions to<br />
<strong>the</strong> Brandywine Y Strong Kids Campaign.<br />
CAMP RESPITE – MUST BE DELAWARE RESIDENT<br />
If you are 50 years <strong>of</strong> age or older and are raising your<br />
grandchildren or <strong>the</strong> children <strong>of</strong> relatives, this program provides<br />
<strong>the</strong> opportunity to send your children to a Y camp. Camp Respite<br />
is funded through local and federal organizations. Costs are<br />
decided individually and on a sliding fee scale. Call Gina Kapa,<br />

SAFETY<br />
•Staff is trained in CPR, first aid, emergency procedures<br />
and child abuse prevention.<br />
•Ellis licensed lifeguards & trained swimming instructors<br />
are on duty during all free swims and swimming instruction.<br />
•Campers are pretested to identify <strong>the</strong>ir individual swimming<br />
ability and receive a bracelet identifying <strong>the</strong>ir level.<br />
•Non-swimmers unable to recover to a standing position<br />
are required to wear a U.S. Coast Guard approved lifejacket<br />
during free swims.<br />
CAMP CODE OF CONDUCT<br />
We require that camp staff and campers treat each o<strong>the</strong>r<br />
in accordance with <strong>the</strong> character values <strong>of</strong> caring, honesty,<br />
respect and responsibility.<br />
POSITIVE GUIDANCE<br />
Counselors will encourage appropriate choices and make<br />
every effort to redirect inappropriate behavior. Parents<br />
will be called to work with <strong>the</strong> counselor and camper to<br />
achieve a positive outcome. Campers who repeatedly<br />
misbehave or put <strong>the</strong>mselves or o<strong>the</strong>r camp participants<br />
in harm’s way may be dismissed from <strong>the</strong> camp program.<br />
BUS TRANSPORTATION<br />
•Bus transportation is <strong>of</strong>fered to campers attending any<br />
camps at <strong>the</strong> Hanby Outdoor Center.<br />
•There is no mid-day transportation for camps ending at<br />
12:00 noon.<br />
•Extended care participants using <strong>the</strong> Y site can be transported<br />
to (am) or from (pm) <strong>the</strong> Hanby Outdoor Center.<br />
•Campers remaining on <strong>the</strong> bus at <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> route will<br />
return: Bus 1 to Central Y; Bus 2 & 3 to camp or <strong>the</strong> Y<br />
and parents will be notified for pick up.<br />
4:00 PM PICK UP AT THE HANBY OUTDOOR CENTER<br />
•Campers need to be picked up promptly at 4:00 pm in<br />
<strong>the</strong> circle at <strong>the</strong> entrance to <strong>the</strong> Hanby Outdoor Center.<br />
•Please remain in your car. Staff will bring your camper<br />
to you. Picture ID is necessary.<br />
