EARLY DISMISSAL/LATE ARRIVAL<br />

•A written note to camper's counselor is necessary with date,<br />

time, and who is picking up.<br />

•Parents or guardians are required to sign out <strong>the</strong> camper and<br />

may be asked to present photo ID.<br />

•Late arrivals must check in at camp <strong>of</strong>fice.<br />

WHAT TO WEAR<br />

•Sunscreen your child every morning before you leave <strong>the</strong> house.<br />

•Comfortable, lightweight clothing and old sneakers are best.<br />

•Label everything with your camper’s name.<br />

•Campers may wear <strong>the</strong>ir swim suit to camp.<br />

•Specialty camps may need specific supplies and/or sport<br />

equipment.<br />

SUNSCREEN<br />

•Please apply sun screen to your camper before <strong>the</strong>y arrive to camp.<br />

We supply ocean potion sunscreen for our campers at our sun<br />

screen station.<br />

•Sun screen station will be a part <strong>of</strong> your campers schedule<br />

oAfter swim instruction in <strong>the</strong> morning<br />

oAfter free swim in <strong>the</strong> afternoon<br />

•Ocean Potion active ingredients: Homosalate 10.0%, Octisalate<br />

5.0%, Avobenzone 2.0%, Octocrylene 2%.<br />

•Campers that are sensitive to <strong>the</strong> sun should wear hats, sleeved<br />

shirts and a swim shirt for <strong>the</strong> pool.<br />

SWIMMING<br />

Swimming is an integral part <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> camp program for both health<br />

and safety reasons.<br />

•A swim suit and towel is needed daily. All full day campers, except<br />

Pioneers, participate in daily swim instruction and free swim.<br />

•A note is necessary to excuse your camper from swimming due<br />

to an illness or injury.<br />

LOST AND FOUND<br />

•All lost and found items are folded and placed on shelves in <strong>the</strong><br />

lost & found area.<br />

•Please encourage your child to check for lost items promptly.<br />

•Items are kept for only one week after <strong>the</strong> session ends and<br />

<strong>the</strong>n donated to a local homeless shelter.<br />

PERSONAL PROPERTY<br />

•CD players, I-Pods, electronics, money, watches, jewelry or o<strong>the</strong>r<br />

valuable items should be left at home. We are not responsible for<br />

<strong>the</strong> safety <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se items.<br />

INCLEMENT WEATHER – CAMP IS OPEN!<br />

•Wet wea<strong>the</strong>r makes it feel chilly outside even when it’s warm.<br />

Campers should wear pants, sweatshirt, boots, raincoat.<br />

•In extreme wea<strong>the</strong>r conditions, campers may be transported to<br />

a local venue by bus or Y van.<br />

•Campers should bring <strong>the</strong>ir swim suit and towel in case <strong>the</strong><br />

wea<strong>the</strong>r clears.<br />

ILLNESS AND INJURY<br />

•Please do not send your child to camp if he/she is not feeling<br />

well in <strong>the</strong> morning.<br />

•Parents are responsible for picking up <strong>the</strong>ir ill child immediately.<br />

•Camp staff will treat minor injuries (small cuts, scrapes, bumps,etc.)<br />

and log <strong>the</strong> incident in <strong>the</strong> health log.<br />

•Parents are notified immediately for illnesses or injuries that need<br />

fur<strong>the</strong>r medical attention.<br />

•Campers who require immediate medical attention are taken to<br />

AI duPont Hospital for Children.<br />

MEDICATION<br />

•Form, available at camp <strong>of</strong>fice, must be completed by a<br />

parent before medication can be administered.<br />

•Medications need to be brought to <strong>the</strong> camp <strong>of</strong>fice by<br />

parent/guardian in <strong>the</strong> original container. Do not send in<br />

with your camper.<br />

•Please DO NOT send more than a one week supply <strong>of</strong><br />

medication at a time.<br />

•Parents should pick up leftover medication in a timely<br />

manner. Any medication left at <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> summer<br />

will be discarded.<br />

LUNCH<br />

•Full day campers need a non-perishable lunch and beverage<br />

daily except on cookout days. The best lunch bag is a<br />

gallon zip lock bag with camper’s name. Lunches are refrigerated.<br />

•A non-perishable snack (cookies, crackers, etc) packed<br />

separately from <strong>the</strong>ir lunch is recommended for morning<br />

and/or afternoon snacks.<br />

•Water bottles labeled with your child’s name should be<br />

brought everyday.<br />

•Ice cream and drinks are sold every day at lunchtime.<br />

Ice cream prices range from $.50 to $1.50; drinks $1.25.<br />

•No lunch is required for 1/2 day camps.<br />

COOKOUTS<br />

•No lunch necessary on cookout days.<br />

•Explorers and Adventurers – Thursdays<br />

•Voyager and Pioneers – Wednesdays<br />

•Sports Camps at Hanby Outdoor Center - Fridays<br />

•Hot dogs, baked chips, and a beverage are provided.<br />

Y SPECIALTY CAMPS – LUNCH BOX CREW<br />

12:00-1:00 PM<br />

Provided for campers attending a morning and afternoon<br />

half day camp at <strong>the</strong> Y. Staff will make sure your camper gets<br />

to his/her afternoon camp. There is no fee for this service.<br />
