SESSION 2 JUNE 18-JUNE 22<br />

CREATING PICTURE BOOKS [7321]<br />

In this new creative writing camp, campers will learn <strong>the</strong> basics <strong>of</strong><br />

fiction writing, explore different illustration techniques, and be<br />

introduced to a wide variety <strong>of</strong> classic and modern stories using<br />

illustrations. By <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> week, each student will have<br />

completed at least one picture book in entirety. Most supplies are<br />

included, but campers need to bring a notebook <strong>the</strong> first day <strong>of</strong><br />

SUPER SITTERS “PLUS” CAMP (7324)<br />

Prepare for those summer babysitting jobs! In addition to regular<br />

Super Sitter training, campers will have <strong>the</strong> opportunity <strong>of</strong> handson<br />

child care experience and be trained in infant and child CPR. A<br />

special one-hour pool safety class is also included. Baby-sitter’s<br />

resource book, first aid manual, CPR books and certification<br />

included. <strong>YMCA</strong> ID card is awarded at <strong>the</strong> completion <strong>of</strong> this course<br />

FLAG FOOTBALL (7505)<br />

Fun and football are <strong>the</strong> focus <strong>of</strong> this non-contact form <strong>of</strong> football.<br />

Cleats, mouthpiece and sneakers needed. Campers will learn skills<br />

and participate in semi-formal games and drills in <strong>the</strong> morning.<br />

Campers will play one day vs. o<strong>the</strong>r Y <strong>of</strong> <strong>Delaware</strong> Flag Football<br />

camps. Instruction takes place from 9 am-12 pm. Campers<br />

participate in afternoon camp activities such as recreational swim,<br />

games and nature walks. Campers need lunch, water bottle, swim<br />

suit, towel and sunscreen each day and have a cookout on Friday<br />

ICE SKATING CAMP (7527)<br />

Campers are taken by bus to Ice Works Skating Complex for<br />

instruction on <strong>the</strong> basic fundamentals <strong>of</strong> ice skating. Lessons<br />

are approximately one hour followed by free skate. Campers<br />

need layers <strong>of</strong> clothing such as gloves, sweat pants and sweat<br />

shirts to stay warm at <strong>the</strong> rink. For a full day option add<br />

Cheerleading Camp in <strong>the</strong> afternoon. For more information,<br />

CHEERLEADING CAMP (7502)<br />

Campers receive hands-on instruction from former cheerleaders<br />

on basic and individual skills involved in cheerleading.<br />

Comfortable sneakers and clothing will be needed. For full day<br />

OUTDOOR SKILLS CAMP (7345)<br />

A camp designed to be fun, educational, and challenging.<br />

Do you love <strong>the</strong> outdoors? Do you have what it takes to be<br />

a “survivor”? Learn traditional outdoor survival skills such<br />

as plant identification, constructing a shelter, building a<br />

campfire, animal tracking and orienteering. Then use your<br />

new skills during an overnight campout. For more information,<br />
