claSS noteS carey grady engesser ’93 and her husband, Brian, welcomed their third child, matthew Edward, in November 2010. Big sister, meghan, 5, and big brother, Patrick, 3, adore him. Carey says, “Although I am primarily a stay-at-home mom to our three children, I also enjoy tutoring middle and elementary school students a few hours a week. We currently live in El Dorado Hills, California.” Jen friedrich Wood ’93 and sarah robbins robinson ’84 got together with their girls during the madison Park Co-op Pumpkin Patch field trip last October. maggie Wood and Gemma robinson are both 2½ years old, possible future ridgers together as 5th graders in 2017! Mary calmus Pasierb, Ms ’88 shares, “I live in Darien, Connecticut, married to my husband mark, with two children: Caitlin, 8, and Andrew, 6. I was a producer for NBC Network News for several years. Now I stay home with the kids and do lots of volunteer work in our community and serve on the School PtO board. I recently caught up with Katharine neumann reagan Ms, ’88, who just moved to Chicago with her husband, Cory, and two sons, Ben and Henry.” After contracting at microsoft in the xbox lIVE Operations organization for a year, Andrea huysing ’94 was hired last September as a full-time employee as an operations program manager. Although she was never an avid gamer, she’s quickly becoming competition to her fellow co-workers and friends. Andrea has also recently become the newest company member of Seattle’s Balagan Theatre as the theater’s official press photographer. sarah reagan christie ’96 writes, “my husband and I are based in Seattle but are currently living in Hyderabad, India, for a short-term assignment. I am a consultant with Deloitte, focusing on global mobility issues for multinational companies. We are enjoying our time in India and trying to get a lot of travel in before we leave to come back to Seattle later this spring.” erin c. evans Battersby ’97 writes, “I am currently clerking for the Honorable Kent A. jordan on the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. When my clerkship ends, I will be working in Delaware as an attorney for the law firm Skadden Arps Slate meagher & Flom. I am married to Stuart Battersby of Abergavenny, Wales, UK. We have two boys: rhydian, age 3, and Emrys, age 1. We are expecting a third child in August.” 26 Mes Amis Spring 2011 cayman Ilika Ms ’99 recently starred in Vanities, A New Musical at the ACt Theatre in Seattle. This three-person play had Cayman acting and singing without a break during the entire play. srilata remala ’03 writes that her sister, srilakshmi remala ’97, “has had an exciting year. In October of 2010 she got engaged to Viren Kamdar. The wedding will be held june 4, 2011, in Hyderabad, India, with several close friends and families. During the summer of 2010, Srilakshmi decided to follow her passion for education and took an associate director position at Community Center for Education results. Her tenacity to improve the public school system in the Seattle area is shown through her dedicated work. Srilakshmi recently started a new job as Director of technology and Digital Solutions at Washington StEm.” 2000s Theresa lacey '00 shared, “I moved to london in December 2009 after completing several successful years working in the charity sector in India. my london life is spent working as a finance and procurement consultant to public sector organizations as well as enjoying the exciting pace of life this great city has to offer. I am especially looking forward to this autumn when my sister Angela '08 will be studying abroad in Spain, just a quick trip away! I am always happy to meet alumnae in the area and would love to welcome those passing through.” Becky Buccola Pelletier ’00 is running twirl Café, her new café in Queen Anne. It’s a gathering place for parents and kids. She is also pregnant with her second child, due in August 2011. emily lapp ’03 is currently deployed onboard USS lake Champlain, a Navy cruiser, in support of anti-piracy and maritime security operations near the Horn of Africa. She is one of seven pilots on the ship as part of a SH-60B helicopter detachment. The ship left in October 2010 and
has made port visits in Panama, the Azores, Crete, Bahrain, Djibouti, Dubai, Pakistan and the Seychelles. Highlights of the deployment so far have been transiting through the Panama Canal, crossing the equator and disrupting pirate activity by destroying multiple pirate skiffs. Emily Lapp ’03 aboard the USS Lake Champlian. srilata remala ’03 sends news that she is “graduating from Carnegie mellon University in may of 2011 with a master of Science in healthcare policy and management. She is looking forward to moving back to Seattle and pursuing a career in health care It while enjoying time with her family and friends. She is looking forward to the wedding festivities of her older sister, srilakshmi remala ’97, this summer both in India and in Seattle! ginny laub, Ms ’02 graduated from Duke University with a degree in medieval renaissance literature and minors in French and History. She was an assistant to the editor of Duke's Journal of Medieval Renaissance Literature. She is currently working on certification as an ESl instructor and hopes to return to Hanoi, Vietnam, where she spent a summer with a Duke program teaching English to high school students in Hanoi and to primary school students in a village further out in the country. It's an experience that made a real difference in her life, she says. Ashley greenidge ’03 writes, “After my graduation in 2003, I moved to British Columbia to attend the University of Victoria. After graduating with a BA in Pacific and Asian studies, it came as no surprise to my friends and family when I announced that I would be moving to japan as part of the japan Exchange and teaching Programme (jEt). I spent just over two years living and teaching in Kyotanbe City. Upon completion of my contract I decided not to renew so that I could move back to Washington State and pursue a career in event coordination. I now work as the marketing coordinator for an It company in Bellevue and part-time for a private events company that handles nonprofit fund-raisers and galas. I'm lucky to remain in the loop with jEt as a member of the Pacific Northwest jEt Alumni Association's Steering Committee.” claSS noteS Ariel Knight ’04 will begin medical school at the University of Washington this fall. Ariel graduated from Wellesley College with a double major in biology and women's studies and thesis honors in 2008 and spent the last two years in postbaccalaureate studies at Harvard University. She is currently working as a research assistant for a thoracic surgery group in Seattle and as an assistant coach for the Forest ridge softball team this spring. cassidy russell Mclelland ’05 married Camden mclelland of Cove, Oregon, on October 23, 2010, at St. joseph Church in Seattle. Cassidy's sister, Molly russell, Ms '05, was maid of honor. Also in attendance were stephanie huling, Ms '01, Jackie fleckenstein '04, Jennifer nicol ’05, sara saunders '05, Alix Patt '06 and Kimberly nicol '08. Cassidy and Camden met while studying at the University of Notre Dame. They are currently living in Washington, D.C. Jessica gil ’06 continues to love law school at Creighton University, according to her mother, linda Gil. “She is going to be doing research on a book with a law firm this summer and taking summer courses. She is involved with the student law association. She worked in a clinic with the homeless population of Omaha, trying to help with breaking down barriers for housing when individuals have outstanding warrants, felonies, etc. The profession is terribly competitive, but she says laughingly that Forest ridge and Pacific Northwest Ballet prepared her for success, loss and everything in between. She takes it in stride. It is almost the end of first year in law school, and she is thinking seriously of contracts law,” linda adds. stephanie Morris ’07 shares, “I am graduating from Gonzaga University this spring and currently have a job working with international students in Spokane. This fall I will move to Seattle to start a job at the accounting firm Deloitte; and I am excited about the travel opportunities of working in a global organization.” taking a break from the Oregon weather, Matthea Brown ’08 is currently in the midst of her six-month stay in the coastal city of Cairns in Queensland, Australia. She is studying abroad at james Cook University, continuing her pursuit of a bachelor's degree in environmental policy by taking classes including agro-ecology, environmental process and change, biodiversity of tropical Australia, and planning sustainable communities in a changing global environment. jCU is located at the edge of the Daintree rainforest in the wet tropics region of far north Queensland, on the northeast coast of Australia. matthea is having an excellent time learning (in and out of the classroom), exploring and hiking in the tropical rainforest Mes Amis Spring 2011 27
