Jillian Chong ’09
Jillian chong ’09 was named the mountain Pacific Sports
Federation Player of the Week for the week of march 14.
jillian led the Saint mary’s lacrosse team, the Gaels, to victory,
scoring four goals in each game. For the week, jillian made
eight goals on 19 shots with two assists and three groundballs.
Way to go jillian!
Amber gmerek ’09 has been accepted as a trainee into
the WAVE (Women Against Violence Europe) team in
Vienna, Austria.
linda Gil, parent of alumna sandra gil ’09 writes about
her daughter, “Sandra texted me from Central Washington
University, where she is taking her first teacher-prep course
this quarter. last quarter, she was accepted into the teacher
prep program at CWU. She made it the second quarter of
sophomore year, as she has completed all basic requirements.
She just returned from a study abroad program in Greece. In
part, she learned to love other cultures and travel because of
opportunities at Fr, from middle school through high school,”
linda adds.

IPJC Celebrates 20th Year
linda haydock, snJM ’73
is the tireless and faithful
Executive Director of the
Intercommunity Peace
and justice Center (IPjC),
launched 20 years ago when
the leadership of religious
communities of the Northwest gathered and
determined the ministry’s greatest needs. This
organization acts for justice in the church and
in the world, and under Sr. linda’s leadership, it
is a force not only in the Seattle Archdiocese, but
throughout the nation and the world.
Sponsored by 16 religious communities of the
Archdiocese, including the religious of the Sacred
Heart, the organization collaborates with Catholic,
ecumenical, interfaith and other organizations in
carrying out this mission to create change for the
common good.

Kathleen Sullivan, rSCj and mary B. Flaherty,
rSCj ’49, attended the 20th anniversary banquet
where the accomplishments of the ICPj were
celebrated and where Sr. linda Haydock was
honored for her inspirational leadership in this
incredibly collaborative and effective effort. The
testimonies were powerful and inspiring. When
Sr. mary B congratulated her, Sr. Haydock said,
“this was the fruit of her Sacred Heart education!
But above and beyond that it has been a heroic
and untiring response to the leadings of the
Holy Spirit and of the desire of the religious
Communities of the Archdiocese to address the
needs of our world today.”
