DOG TRAINING
Dog and Puppy Behavioural Training
Dogs Understood in
Bromham was created
from a passion for dogs
and a desire to promote
responsible dog ownership.
Established in 2003, it has grown
into a thriving business offering
puppy training and classes,
dog training, canine behaviour
consultations, nutritional advice
and mobile pet supplies.
Sally Hubbard is a Canine
Behaviourist, an Associate
Member of the Canine Behaviour
Centre, a member of the Kennel
Club Accreditation Scheme for
Instructors and a Pet Nutritional
Adviser. She has 5 dogs of her
own - 4 Belgian Shepherds and
1 Shetland sheepdog. Two of
the dogs are registered Pets As
Therapy dogs and are regular
visitors to local residential homes
for the elderly. They also visit
local schools, educating children
about the wonderful world of
dogs. Sally’s dogs work with her
on a daily basis and have assisted
many of her clients and their
dogs. They are all happy to show
off their skills, including clicker
training, obedience and agility
-the favourite trick being skate
boarding by Lilly the Sheltie!
Promoting responsible pet
ownership is at the forefront of
the business. They offer advice
and support to potential puppy/
dog owners about choosing the
right breed to suit their lifestyle

and circumstances and help to
find reputable breeders or rescue
homes.
The behaviour consultations help
to deal with behaviour issues that
have arisen -often through a lack
of understanding of a particular
breed or character trait,
through rehoming, a change in
circumstances, a bad experience
or lack of socialisation or training
early on.
Good recall and manners
Dogs Understood also encourage
owners to take responsibility
for their pet, ensuring their dog
is micro chipped and wears
an ID tag when out in public.
Responsibilities include poop
scooping, having control of their
dog and good recall and manners
from their pet when approaching
other dogs/people – these are
just some of the basic steps
they aim to achieve from all dog
owners.

Veterinary Clinic in Bedford and
in order to be able to give the
puppies and their handlers the
time and support needed, each
class consists of just 6 puppies.
Dogs Understood also support
the Puppy Parties held at the
clinic, where puppies are able to
socialise from a young age and
learn some very important skills.
Keeping your dog at an ideal
weight is vital for its health
and wellbeing and nutritional
advice is available to ensure
your dog is on a suitable food
for its age, lifestyle and activity
levels. Inappropriate feeding can
contribute to behaviour issues as
well as health issues.
The pleasure of owning a welltrained
and well-mannered
dog is immense. To have a well
socialised, relaxed and content
dog is the envy of many.
