<strong>Analysis</strong> noun: an investigation of the component parts of a whole and their<br />

relations in making up the whole<br />

Permission granted <strong>to</strong> copy <strong>for</strong> non-commercial uses only.<br />

noun: the abstract separation of a whole in<strong>to</strong> its constituent parts in<br />

order <strong>to</strong> study the parts and their relations<br />

Code noun: a category deemed important by the an individual(s)<br />

conducting the analysis. it is a method used <strong>to</strong> label important<br />

pieces of in<strong>for</strong>mation that are contained in the narrative.<br />

Correlation noun: a statistical relation between two or more variables such that<br />

systematic changes in the value of one variable are accompanied by<br />

systematic changes in the other<br />

noun: a statistic representing how closely two variable co-vary;<br />

it can vary from -1 (perfect negative correlation) though 0 (no<br />

correlation) <strong>to</strong> +1 (perfect positive correlation) (Example: “What is<br />

the correlation between those two variables?”)<br />

<strong>Data</strong> noun: a collection of facts from which conclusions may be drawn<br />

(Example: “Statistical data”)<br />

Denomina<strong>to</strong>r noun: the divisor of a fraction<br />

Difference noun: the number that remains after subtraction; the number that<br />

when added <strong>to</strong> the subtrahend gives the minuend<br />

noun: a variation that deviates from the standard or norm<br />

Estimation noun: a judgment of the qualities of something or somebody<br />

(Example: “in my estimation the boy is innocent”)<br />

noun: an approximate calculation of quantity or degree or worth<br />
