New Holland Island

The triangular shaped self-sustaining island will provide
7.6-hectares of mixed-use cultural development in the
heart of St Peterburg providing a 2000 seat Festival
Hall, external ampitheatre and a 200 seat recital hall.
The scheme also provides the necessary infrastructure
to connect the island with the city. New bridges and
routes will be created to tie the island into a wider
cultural quarter that includes the Mariinsky Theatre
and the Hermitage Museum to establish a thriving,
sustainable centre for the arts.
The island will become more permeable and
accessible, encouraging pedestrian access and
creating a prominent gateway into the site.
