Forth Ports Masterplan

The proposed Leith Hub development is located
north of Edinburgh City on the Firth of Forth, and is
part of the larger Leith Docks Development scheme
redeveloping the active Port of Leith. The Leith Hub
masterplan is the first of a series of masterplans that
covers two of the nine villages, Britannia Quay and
Waterfront Plaza. The masterplan, covering 48 hectares,
is a mixed use development that includes public open
space, residential, commercial and retail areas.
The proposed development will revitalise Ocean
Terminal, a major shopping centre, create a waterfront
esplanade, regenerate the water’s edge and is a critical
component to the larger Leith Docks Development
being the retail and commercial centre, creating a place
of interest in this area of Edinburgh.
Buro Happold are currently involved in providing
environmental advice to the masterplanning team for
the Leith Hub area and are managing the production
of the Environmental and Sustainability Statements
to support the Planning Application for the Leith
Hub Masterplan. As part of the Environmental
Statement technical assessments in air quality, waste
management, contaminated land, water resources and
microclimate will be undertaken
