Forth Ports Masterplan<br />

Edinburgh, UK<br />

The proposed Leith Hub development is located<br />

north of Edinburgh City on the Firth of Forth, and is<br />

part of the larger Leith Docks Development scheme<br />

redeveloping the active Port of Leith. The Leith Hub<br />

masterplan is the first of a series of masterplans that<br />

covers two of the nine villages, Britannia Quay and<br />

Waterfront Plaza. The masterplan, covering 48 hectares,<br />

is a mixed use development that includes public open<br />

space, residential, commercial and retail areas.<br />

The proposed development will revitalise Ocean<br />

Terminal, a major shopping centre, create a waterfront<br />

esplanade, regenerate the water’s edge and is a critical<br />

component to the larger Leith Docks Development<br />

being the retail and commercial centre, creating a place<br />

of interest in this area of Edinburgh.<br />

<strong>Buro</strong> <strong>Happold</strong> are currently involved in providing<br />

environmental advice to the masterplanning team for<br />

the Leith Hub area and are managing the production<br />

of the Environmental and Sustainability Statements<br />

to support the Planning Application for the Leith<br />

Hub Masterplan. As part of the Environmental<br />

Statement technical assessments in air quality, waste<br />

management, contaminated land, water resources and<br />

microclimate will be undertaken
