CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE<br />

As this little book is now quickly approaching the permitted<br />

number of pages, it seems a good idea to make a few com-<br />

ments with regard to a subject which seems to occupy the<br />

thoughts of a great many readers. A large number of people<br />

have written requesting more comments because the ‘subject is<br />

not generally discussed these days’. Just this morning a letter<br />

was put into my hands, and when I read it I decided it was not<br />

accidental—it was just a reminder of what so many others had<br />

written to me in the past weeks and months. Since the writer<br />

of the letter is quite well known to me it might not be amiss to<br />

quote the relevant paragraph—‘it would be an excellent idea<br />

to write more about death because it is something which<br />

effects each one of us, and it will help to break down the bar-<br />

riers of fear which most of us have’. The writer continues, ‘In<br />

the last century, or Victorian age, sex was taboo, but now this<br />

subject has gone to the extreme. In this period of time, the<br />

subject of death of the physical body is taboo. Let us hope that<br />

subject will be discussed more openly in the not too dis-<br />

tant future, without fear, and I am sure you can help by touch-<br />

ing upon it.’<br />

My thought is that <strong>Lobsang</strong> <strong>Rampa</strong> is the person who can<br />

best write about death, and he can go much further by writing<br />

about what happens AFTER death. In his latest book Three<br />

Lives, that is exactly what he has done, and many people have<br />

expressed the opinion that it is the best book of the eighteen he<br />

has written. We all hope he will be able to maintain sufficient<br />

physical strength to carry out his intention of making it to<br />

number nineteen. Judging from his remarks I am sure Three<br />
