Around that time a British Company in Kingston-on-<br />

Thames, Surrey, brought out the Compass, a wrist camera,<br />

using 16-mm circular film, and in those early days the mid-<br />

Europeans put out a ‘spy’ camera using this film which is just<br />

about half the size of the 35 mm. A little later a man in Italy<br />

invented another small instrument which has been called one<br />

of the finest cameras ever produced, but for one reason or<br />

another it did not receive the promotion necessary to get go-<br />

ing, so it was never popularized. This camera was a Gami and<br />

one of its features was that with each setting of the shutter<br />

one might take three separate pictures. Whether that was a<br />

good thing is debatable. I have seen some results of this in-<br />

strument and I have to agree they came close to perfection in<br />

quality.<br />
