Welcome to <strong>Remembrance</strong> <strong>Travel</strong> (<strong>for</strong>merly<br />
Poppy <strong>Travel</strong>) <strong>for</strong> Schools <strong>and</strong> Young People<br />
<strong>Remembrance</strong> <strong>Travel</strong> is the travel division of The<br />
Royal British Legion. As the national custodian of<br />
<strong>Remembrance</strong>, The Royal British Legion <strong>and</strong><br />
<strong>Remembrance</strong> <strong>Travel</strong> believe that <strong>Remembrance</strong><br />
should be used to in<strong>for</strong>m <strong>people</strong> about the realities<br />
of conflict, those that are affected by wars <strong>and</strong> the<br />
importance of peace.<br />
The Royal British Legion was created to support<br />
ex-Service men <strong>and</strong> women <strong>and</strong> their families.<br />
Part of that support was to take them to the<br />
cemeteries, sites <strong>and</strong> memorials associated with<br />
conflict. This commitment has led to us organising<br />
<strong>tours</strong> to Western Europe <strong>and</strong> beyond, since the<br />
Great Pilgrimage of 1927.<br />
<strong>Remembrance</strong> <strong>Travel</strong> Tours <strong>for</strong> Schools <strong>and</strong> Young<br />
People, along with The Royal British Legion’s<br />
learning programme, support <strong>schools</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>young</strong><br />
<strong>people</strong> as they start to underst<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> participate<br />
in <strong>Remembrance</strong> <strong>and</strong> learn about <strong>people</strong> whose<br />
lives are affected by conflict.<br />
Knowing about those that fought, or those whose<br />
lives were affected by conflict, has the power to<br />
bring communities together, recognising contributions<br />
<strong>and</strong> sacrifice around the world. For students in the<br />
UK, the opportunity to travel with <strong>Remembrance</strong><br />
<strong>Travel</strong> <strong>and</strong> participate in an act of <strong>Remembrance</strong>,<br />
can open up new experiences <strong>and</strong> levels of<br />
underst<strong>and</strong>ing about those who live around them.<br />
