Coaches
We only use approved executive coach companies,
and we use coaches on most of our tours to take
school parties from area to area. Coach pick-ups can
also be arranged.
Drivers’ hours
All itineraries are planned to ensure that the strict
EU regulations governing driving hours are observed
at all times.
Channel crossing
For travel to France, Belgium and Germany we
use either the Channel Tunnel or a ferry service –
whichever best suits your tour itinerary.
Air travel
For tours in Italy, Germany, Poland and beyond, we
recommend flying to the airport closest to the tour’s
starting point. We will supply the choice of times,
costs and airlines that best suit your needs and budget.
Public transport
Travel within cities may be quicker and cheaper using
public transport – we will discuss this with you when
planning your trip.
accommodation
Hotels
We use reliable 2 or 3 star hotels for school tours.
We have used many of them before, and generally
choose known chains to ensure they meet the
required standards. Students will be expected
to share rooms and room allocation will be the
responsibility of the teacher leading the tour. We
supply risk assessments for hotels upon request.
Hostels
If you would prefer to stay in a hostel, this is available
in some countries – we can provide information and
make the booking at your request.
Evening activities
After a day’s learning and discussion, everyone will
benefit from a relaxing evening. We can help you put
together an evening programme that might include
activities from quizzes and games to bowling and
eating out at a local restaurant.

We understand you may need to visit your chosen
destination before taking your group there, so you can
study your itinerary and complete any necessary risk
assessments of your accommodation and programme.
If you wish to make an advance visit to your chosen
destination, we can help with the cost. (Please

PassPorts and visas
It is the responsibility of the group Leader to ensure
that all members of the group are in possession of valid
passports and visas if necessary. Holders of non-British
passports should check with the embassy or consulate
of the country the group are travelling to or through.
eUroPean health insUrance card (ehic)
We would also strongly recommend that everyone
takes with them an EHIC. This card will allow you to
receive free or reduced-cost emergency health care
while abroad. It will also reduce the risk of you having
to pay for treatment ‘on the spot’ and then make a
claim on your return to the UK. Application forms
are available from your local Post Office or online at:

health and safety
The safety and security of our clients is of
paramount importance to us. As such, we have
formally documented our existing procedures as a
Safety Management Policy relating to Health and
Safety, which meets Government guidelines.

Safety on school visits: a major initiative to
help teachers and schools
Remembrance Travel is an Assured Member of the
School Travel Forum.
The School Travel Forum is a group of leading school
tour operators who promote good practice and safety
in school travel. All Assured Members of the STF
adhere to a rigorous Code of Practice and Safety
Management Standards and are externally verified
each year by suitably qualified independent Health
and Safety professionals.
Choosing an STF Assured Member ensures teachers
and schools are meeting the requirements of DfES
and Scottish Executive guidelines and that they can
delegate important tasks with confidence.
During the course of developing the STF Code of
Practice, and in addition to liaising with the DfES, advice
has been sought from all leading educational Unions
and Associations. The STF initiative is welcomed by
the Outdoor Education Advisors Panel (OEAP) and
the DfES. It has the support of the ASCL, NAHT,
ATL, NUT, PAT and the NASUWT advises members
wishing to organise school trips to use companies
that have this type of scheme.

the QUality badge
The Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge
is a nationally recognised benchmark that brings
together all existing safety and quality badges into
one easily identifiable mark of quality. The Quality
Badge makes it easier for teaching professionals to
organise LOtC activities by helping them to identify
organisations providing good quality LOtC activities,
reducing paperwork and red tape.
The Quality Badge is awarded to organisations which
have pledged to engage in an ongoing process to
sustain good-quality learning outside the classroom
and have demonstrated that they meet six quality
indicators. These indicators show the provider:
1 has a process in place to assist users to plan the
learning experience effectively;
2 provides accurate information about its offer;
3 provides activities, experience or resources which
meet learner needs;
4 reviews the experience and acts on feedback;
5 meets the needs of the users; and
6 has safety management processes in place to
manage risk effectively.

The flight-inclusive tours we sell are financially protected
by the Air Travel Organisers Licence scheme. We hold
an ATOL Licence (ATOL 10277) granted by the Civil
Aviation Authority. When you pay you will be supplied
with an ATOL Certificate. Please check it to ensure
that everything you booked (flights, accommodation
and other services) is listed on it. In the unlikely event
of our insolvency, the CAA will ensure that you are
not stranded abroad and will arrange to refund any
money you have paid to us for an advance booking.

hoW to book
Once you have chosen your tour, simply contact
us to discuss availability. We will hold a provisional
booking for 14 days, giving you time to advertise the
trip and collect initial deposits.
dePosit schedUle
14 days after making your provisional booking, we
will require your completed booking form and a
deposit of £30 per paying passenger for coach tours
or a deposit of £100 for air tours. The final balance
will be due 8 weeks prior to departure.
