with the view of organization of the<br />
proposed "Sunnyland Orchestra."<br />
<strong>The</strong> president appointed Messrs.<br />
Coulter, Needham and Lindeman the<br />
committee to draw up tentative by-<br />
laws for the club.<br />
A re-organization dinner was to be<br />
held May 22, when final re-organiza-<br />
tion of the club would be effected.<br />
<strong>The</strong> committee appointed to arrange<br />
the dinner was as follows: Messrs.<br />
Leigh, DeFries and Hoke.<br />

This is the way .J. W. ("Doc.") Sea-<br />
bough, president of the <strong>Frisco</strong> Men's<br />
Club of <strong>Springfield</strong>, has characterized<br />
the meeting of the club held the<br />
night of May 14, in the assembly room<br />
of the <strong>Frisco</strong> building there. Ap-<br />
proximately 3M) members were pres-<br />
ent and took part in discussion of traf-<br />
fic solicitation.<br />
<strong>The</strong> steady growth of the <strong>Frisco</strong>'s<br />
earnings at <strong>Springfield</strong> was attribut-<br />
ed by George M. Forrester, commer-<br />
cial agent, <strong>Springfield</strong>, as due in a<br />
considerable degree to the efforts of<br />
employes at traffic solicitation. Anoth-<br />
er factor in this growth of <strong>Frisco</strong><br />
business at <strong>Springfield</strong> was ascribed<br />
by Mr. Forrester to "the remarkable<br />
growth of the city."<br />
Talks were delivered, also, by A.<br />
B. Sherwood, Frank L. DeGroat and<br />
W. W. Shackelford, each a team cap-<br />
tain in the four-team traffic solicita-<br />
tion campaign at <strong>Springfield</strong> which be-<br />
gan April 16, and in which practically<br />
every <strong>Frisco</strong> employe there is engag-<br />
ed. <strong>The</strong> other team captain is J. P.<br />
Kerr. Other speakers included: J. H.<br />
Doggrell, superintendeut of transpor-<br />
tation; 13. L. Kennedy, of the tele-<br />
graph department, Roy Dysert, and<br />
J. H. Brennan, superintendent of tele-<br />
graph, all of <strong>Springfield</strong>. President<br />
Seabough presided.<br />
<strong>The</strong> entertainment program includ-<br />
ed: selections, G. L. Walton's Merry-<br />
makers, a six-piece orchestra; songs<br />
by the choral club of the <strong>Frisco</strong> Girls'<br />
Club of <strong>Springfield</strong>, and selections by<br />
the Bluebonnet Quartet. Refresh-<br />
ments were served at the close of the<br />
meeting.<br />
<strong>The</strong> standing of the teams in the<br />
traffic solicitation campaign at Spring-<br />
field, on the night of April 30, after<br />
twelve days of the campaign had<br />
elapsed, was announced by President<br />
Seabough a few days before the meet-<br />
ing of the club, as follows: first, A. B.<br />
Sherwood, ,767 per cent; second, 17.<br />
L. DeGroat, ,632 per cent, and third,<br />
W. W. Shackelford, .298 per cent.<br />

HE second "off-line" agency to be featured in the <strong>Frisco</strong> Mngaciirc,<br />
is that under the direction of Mr. H. F. Sanborn, general agent at<br />
Chicago, 111.<br />
<strong>The</strong> <strong>Frisco</strong> office in Chicago is at 112 West Adams Street, close<br />
to the heart of the loop and in close proximity to all other railroad<br />
offices. <strong>The</strong> <strong>Frisco</strong> has been located at the above address for many<br />
years. Prior to Government control, it was operated as a joint C. &<br />
E. L<strong>Frisco</strong> Agency. After the World War the office was re-opened<br />
under the jurisdiction of Mr. W. S. Merchant, now general eastern<br />
agent at New York. He was succeeded August lst, 1923, by Mr. W.<br />
B. Wells, now assistant freight traffic manager at St. Louis. Mr. H.<br />
F. Sanborn, now general agent, succeeded Mr. Wells October lst, 1927.<br />
<strong>The</strong> territory under the jurisdiction of this office includes the<br />
states of Wisconsin and Minnesota, upper Peninsula of Michigan,<br />
northern part of Illinois, and some of the most important manufac-<br />
turing centers in the northwest part of Indiana.<br />
Members of the Chicago agency are always glad to have their<br />
railroad friends, shippers and the traveling public, pay them a visit<br />
while in Chicago, w-here they will be accorded the usual <strong>Frisco</strong> hos-<br />
pitality.<br />
<strong>The</strong> four leading individuals in F. A. McClaren. teleara~her. uresipoint<br />

is the basis on which the contest,<br />
both by teams and by individuals,<br />
is being conductetl, was, on the night<br />
of April 30, as follows: First. L.<br />
