ON MEMBERSHIP DRIVE<br />

<strong>The</strong> Ladies' Auxiliary of the <strong>Frisco</strong><br />

Association of Metal Crafts and Car<br />

Department employes of Chaffee, Mo.,<br />

Local No. I'l, are working in a mem-<br />

bership contest, lasting through May,<br />

.<strong>June</strong> and July. <strong>The</strong> losers will en-<br />

tertain the winners with an enter-<br />

tainment and supper.<br />

At the last meeting of this auxiliary,<br />

four new members mere initiated.<br />

<strong>The</strong>y were, Mrs. Mary Reeves. Neisha<br />

Denton, Opal Stringfellow and De-<br />

mova Reeves.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Playground Ball League of Ft.<br />

Worth, Tex., is in full swing. Three<br />

teams are entered from the <strong>Frisco</strong><br />

offices, one each Prom the office force,<br />

the car department and the shops, and<br />

each.team play one game a week.<br />

I SPORT NOTES I<br />

Tennis is claiming the attention of<br />

many of the Chaffee, Mo., employes.<br />

Ranney, McDonaugh, Bill Henke and<br />

R. E. Pipkin, all old heads at the ten-<br />

nis game have promised their support<br />

of a tennis team.<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>Frisco</strong> shop ball team of Okla-<br />

homa City, now holds second place<br />

in the City Twilight League, having<br />

won three games, lost two and tied<br />

one. <strong>The</strong> team expects to win the<br />

pennant for the season.<br />

A number of employes in the <strong>Frisco</strong><br />

office building at Ft. Smith, Ark., are<br />

sponsoring a tennis court to be erect-<br />

ed on the <strong>Frisco</strong> right-of-way, to be<br />

used by employes only.<br />

H. Miller, cashier, is sporting a new<br />

Chevrolet coupe.<br />

Fireman A. &I. Box has a new ar-<br />

rival at his home-a baby girl.<br />

I. W. Hill is sporting a new Chev-<br />

rolet coupe.<br />

Conductor Flckey recently loaded a<br />

car of radishes at Tulot and Marked<br />

Tree and erpectlng to load somethlng<br />

like 43 cars this season.<br />

George Mitchell, hostler, is on the<br />

sick list.<br />

J. J. Edginton. stationary fireman,<br />

made a trip to Oklahoma recently.<br />

Earl Lewis, hostler helper, resigned<br />

that position and went to work on the<br />

section.<br />

Local No. 24 held regular meeting<br />

April 17, which was well attended.<br />

Anton B. Holmquist, machinist of St.<br />

Louis, was a visitor at Amory round-<br />

house recently.<br />

We had a short visit from D. For-<br />

sythe. general road foreman of equip-<br />

ment, recently. <strong>The</strong> boys are always<br />

glad to see Nr. Forsythe.<br />

Dock Dees, car man, has returned<br />

from a week-end trip to Birmingham.<br />

While there he entertained himself at<br />

East Lake.<br />

Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Malone are<br />

the proud parents of a fine elght and<br />

one-half pound girl. Congratulatlons!<br />

Ed Grizzle, store room trucker, has<br />

recently purchased a new four-door<br />

IVhippet six sedan.<br />

W. J. Patterson, storekeeper, has<br />

purchased a setter blrd dog to go with<br />

the pointer that he bought a few<br />

weeks ago.<br />

Dock Gamoutt recently visited rela-<br />

tives at Joplln, Mo.<br />

Barney Henderson has gone to Pen-<br />

sacola, Florida, to engineer the pile<br />

driver. He expects to get back in<br />

Al. Rall and Buck Reddick. left town<br />

early Sunday morning, May 6, and<br />

motored to a fishing hole near Ft.<br />

Scott. Kansas, where they fished all<br />

clay. <strong>The</strong>y returned late that nlght<br />

with a fine day's catch. which con-<br />

sisted of one small Ash about six<br />

inches in lvnrth. This is the Arst Ash<br />

story of the season, but a true one.<br />

for rheumatism. At this writing<br />

he has not returned to work, but<br />

states he will be on the job In a short<br />

while.<br />

Ye scribe spent a day with the home<br />

folks at Willow Springs in the early<br />

part of ;\ray. Every day, in every<br />

way, the wife's biscuits taste better<br />

and better.
