Section 1 - Introduction Page 2 ARCHIVES SEARCH REPORT – FINDINGS Jenner 12th Naval District Target No. 29 Jenner, CA establishment. The research places particular emphasis on establishing the types, quantities and areas of use and disposal. This process obtains information for use in developing recommendations for further action at the former Jenner 12th Naval District Target No. 29. 1.4 SCOPE This investigation focuses on potential OE and/or CWM contamination remaining on the former Jenner 12th Naval District Target No. 29. The DERP-FUDS project number is J09CA103901. This report presents the following: • A brief history of Jenner 12th Naval District Target No. 29 • Description and characteristics of the immediate surrounding area • A review of related site investigations • An aerial photography and map analysis of the site • Real estate information, past and present • Findings of the site inspection • Description of the OE and/or CWM identified with the site These factors represent the basis for the evaluation of potential OE and CWM contamination and associated risks at Jenner 12th Naval District Target No. 29.
2 PREVIOUS SITE INVESTIGATIONS 2.1 CORPS OF ENGINEERS DOCUMENTS Section 2 – Previous Site Investigations Page 3 ARCHIVES SEARCH REPORT – FINDINGS Jenner 12th Naval District Target No. 29 Jenner, CA The Sacramento District of the Corps of Engineers prepared the following investigations in support of the DERP for FUDS: Inventory Project Report Bombing Target Jenner, Sonoma County California, FUDS Site No. J09CA1039, July 1999. 1 The Inventory Project Report (INPR) assigned a Risk Assessment Code (RAC) of 3 for the OE/CWM portion of this site. See Appendix D-1 for this report. The INPR identified only OE as a potential hazard at the former Jenner 12th Naval District Target No. 29. Just to the north of this site, is another FUDS, J09CA0910 Jenner Radar Site B-76. The U.S. Army acquired 249.88 acres of land between 1941 and 1942 for use as a radar site. An ASR on that site determined that a section Battery B of the 74 th Field Artillery was stationed at the Jenner radar site from approximately 19 April to 1 September 1943 for coastal defense. By 20 May 1947, the War Department had relinquished all the land acquired for that site. That ASR found no evidence that any of the weapons were ever fired on site and the site was considered uncontaminated. Neither the INPR, nor this ASR investigation found any direct linkages between the two FUDS. 2 2.2 OTHER REPORTS The archive search did not locate any additional environmental investigations or reports concerning Jenner 12th Naval District Target No. 29.
