impurity in fine grass seeds. While the plants<br />

will make a dense creeping turf, the leaves are too<br />

coarse <strong>for</strong> putting purposes. Lifting the turf oc-<br />

cupied by this weed is the best practical way to,<br />

destroy it.<br />

Water pennywort (Hydrocotyle americana). - This<br />

introduced plant (Fig. 44) much resembles ground<br />

ivy, but the leaves are smooth, shiny, and somewhat<br />

fleshy and the flowers are very small and incon-<br />
