Act I, Scene 1 33
The introduction to Music 19 is played. During the song, Peter hovers, and flies above and
slightly behind Hook. Hook remains puzzled as to why he is unable to see him
Music 19: I’ve Got A Funny Feeling
(singing) I’ve got a funny feeling
There’s more to this than meets the eye
We’re facing one small problem
You say you’re Hook, BUT SO DO I!
Hook, have you another voice?
Peter I have, so take your choice.
Hook And another name?
Peter Ay, ay, it’s not the same.
Hook Are you vegetable?
Peter No.
Hook Are you mineral?
Peter No.
Hook Are you animal?
Peter No.
Hook Are you man?
Peter No.
Hook Are you boy?
Peter Yes.
Hook Are you an ordinary boy?
Peter Oh no.
Hook Are you a wonderful boy?
Peter Yes!
Hook Are you in England?
Peter No, I’m not in England.
Hook Are you here?
Peter Yes!
Hook (wiping his damp brow, puzzled) You ask him some questions, Smee.
Smee I can’t think of a thing.
Peter Can’t guess, can’t guess. Do you give up?
Hook Speak clear and straight if you can.
Peter Very well then; (speaking) I am Peter Pan!
He lands dramatically in front of Hook
The orchestra plays a crashing chord
Hook What! Pan!
(shouting) Now we have him.
