prepared a presentation of "The Messiah''<br />

which includes <strong>the</strong> music and an<br />

explanatory commentary. The sensitive<br />

work has become a Chr<strong>is</strong>tmas and<br />

Easter tradition at WSDP<br />

"The Messiah" will be broadcast at<br />

2 p.m. March 23.<br />

Regular programming of news and<br />

sports will continue at 4:18 p.m "C<strong>off</strong>ee<br />

Grider Man" <strong>is</strong> scheduled for 5<br />

p.m., followed by "Joy," a program of<br />

special Easter music at 5:30<br />

SPEAKERS have been lined up for<br />

Romaine Kling, a reg<strong>is</strong>tered nurse,<br />

will take part in <strong>the</strong> workshops<br />

CAROL WELSH'S fifth graders at<br />

Allen Elementary School on Haggerty<br />

took <strong>the</strong> spotlight last week.<br />

The students wrote, produced and<br />

starred in "Close Encounters of Room<br />

18" (<strong>the</strong>ir classsoom). The rest of <strong>the</strong><br />

student body and parents made up <strong>the</strong><br />

audience for <strong>the</strong> two performances.<br />

Every member of <strong>the</strong> class took part<br />

in <strong>the</strong> 45-minute play, which was <strong>the</strong>ater-in-<strong>the</strong>-square.<br />

Tie front and side<br />

walls of <strong>the</strong> room were decorated as a<br />

backdrop. The lights would go out on<br />

one scene and when <strong>the</strong>y went on, <strong>the</strong>y<br />

would pick up a scene or panorama in<br />

mo<strong>the</strong>r part of <strong>the</strong> room.<br />

TV story was about <strong>the</strong> space travels<br />

of <strong>the</strong> Room 18 students and <strong>the</strong><br />

planet* <strong>the</strong>y v<strong>is</strong>ited And it had a<br />

moral.<br />

They d<strong>is</strong>covered that inhabitants of<br />

<strong>the</strong>se worlds had gone through <strong>the</strong><br />

Mrne growing pains as planet Earth,<br />

w tut <strong>the</strong>se people had solved <strong>the</strong>ir dif-<br />

3 ferences and now lived In peace.<br />

Jaycettes hit bunny trail<br />

<strong>Canton</strong> Jaycettes donned <strong>the</strong>ir Easter Bunny costumes<br />

and headed for <strong>Canton</strong> Commons with six<br />

shopping bags of Easter eggs. Hie usual welcoming<br />

crowds of excited children were not in evidence as<br />

<strong>the</strong> cold winds blew. Diane Dav<strong>is</strong> wore <strong>the</strong> white rab-<br />

bit suit, and Sue Roth, Site Dickie and Linda Salapatek<br />
