Sunrise worship, breakfasts greet Easter
Sunrise services, Easter breakfasts,
special music, an Easter rally and
even an Easter egg hunt are on church
schedules Sunday as congregations
throughout the area hail the Resurrection
Greeting the earliest hours of Easter
morning will be the people of at least
seven congregations—Grand River
Baptist, Plymouth Church of the Nazarene.
Merriman Road Baptist, Livonia
Christian Church, First Baptist of
Plymouth and the Episcopal Church of
the Holy Spirit and Ward United Presbyterian
Memman Road Baptist, located in
Garden City, will have its people up
and doing at 6 a.m. Easter morning,
following sunrise worship with breakfast
at 7 a m and regular services at
11 a.m.
At 7 p.m., the church plans a special
program consisting of monologues by
Gary Walker entitled "If They Had
Only Known."
Rotary Park, Six Mile and Hubbard
in Livonia, will be the setting for the 7
am. sunrise service to be led by youth
erf the Livonia Christian Church (Disciples
of Christ.)
Participants include Russ Bark,
youth counselor, Robin Rickard,
Kathy Pearce, Ann Groce and Phil
Keathley The young people will serve
coffee and doughnuts following the
service.
The church's Easter worship, scheduled
at 11 a.m.. will be marked by the
final sermon by the Rev. William
Hass. who is leaving Livonia to begin a
new ministry in Kokomo, Ind. His
topic will be "Power from the Living
Clin st."
CHURCH OF THE HOLY SPIRIT,

The ordinance of believer's baptism
will be conducted at the 7 a.m. sunrise
service at First Baptist Church of
Plymouth, North Territorial west of
Sheldon.
The day's events for that congregation
also include breakfast at 8:15
a.m., church school at 9:40 a.m. arid
worship at 11 a.m. Plymouth Church
of the Nazarene will begin sunrise
worship at 6:30 a.m., with special
music provided by the choir, groups
known as Trust Unlimited and the
Faith in Action trio and a message by
the Rev. Stephen Owens, minister of
outreach and Christian education
Following a congregational breakfast,
the church plans a 10 a.m. Easter
rally, a combined service with thi
Rev. Carl R. Allen preaching and
music by the sanctuary choir, the teen
and children's choirs and special vocal
groups.
YOUNG PEOPLE of Grand River
Baptist will conduct the sunrise wor>
ship at that church, located at 3450Q
Six Mile, Livonia. The hour will be
7:30 a.m., and the Rev. J. Charles Brickel
will preach.
Easter breakfast to be served by the,
men's club beginning at 8:30 a.m. will
feature ham and eggs and pancakes.
Reservations for the breakfast should
be made by calling the church office.
261-6950, by 4 p.m. Friday.
The Rev. Wilbert D. Gough will
preach on "The Rising of the Son." at
10:45 a.m. worship, and the 7 p.m. Living
Christ hour will include hymn-singing
and a message, "After Easter,
What?"
Ward United I^esbyterian Church,
34600 Six Mile, Livonia, will have sunrise
worship led by the Rev. Gary
Hopwood at 6:30 a.m. Youth of the
church will share in the service.
Three more Easter services will follow
at Ward, with the Rev. L. Edward
Davis preaching at 8 a.m. and Dr.
Bartlett L. Hess preaching at 9:30 and
11 a.m.
Dr. Hess also will preach at the
cturch's Maundy Thursday service, at
7:30 p.m., and communion will be
observed

morning services Easter is Newburg
United Methodist, 36500 Ann Arbor
Trail, Livonia.
Easter breakfast will be served
there 7:15-8:45 a.m., and worship is
planned at 8, 9:15 and 11 a.m., with the
Rev. William A. Ritter preaching at
all three services.
