Also during that period we did a great deal<br />

of very detailed work with local GP’s both from here <strong>and</strong> from<br />

Helensburgh <strong>and</strong> Lomond, consultants from the Vale of Leven<br />

<strong>and</strong> from the RAH, the Scottish Ambulance Service, staff from<br />

the Vale of Leven <strong>and</strong> others were involved in very detailed<br />

work looking at how we would develop the model as set out in<br />

that report.<br />

And as Peter said we launched formal<br />

public consultation at the end of October <strong>and</strong> this will run until<br />

the end of January <strong>and</strong> I will come back later to how you can<br />

share your views with us in the period up to the end of January.<br />

This table here looks at the services<br />

currently provided or proposed for the Vale of Leven here on<br />

the left h<strong>and</strong> column. The middle column shows you the<br />

current patient episodes <strong>and</strong> the right h<strong>and</strong> column sets out the<br />

proposed patient episodes <strong>and</strong> just to make it clear what a<br />

patient episode is, a patient episode is a person coming to<br />

hospital for a treatment or some care.<br />

So one patient might come five or six<br />

times, so what we are talking, they would be referred to as<br />

patient episodes, so what we are saying is that at the moment<br />

today 115,300 patient episodes of care are undertaken at the
