TOM DIVERS: Let me pick my way<br />

through those <strong>and</strong> if others need to chip in on one or two on the<br />

way through they will do.<br />

I mean Jackie you expressed<br />

disappointment about us in a single system being able to<br />

redraw this map of provision. I mean there’s two elements to<br />

that, the first was that for good or ill, given what we found at<br />

the point when Argyle <strong>and</strong> <strong>Clyde</strong> Health Board was being<br />

abolished <strong>and</strong> not least the extensive sense of hurt <strong>and</strong> even<br />

failure in lots of circumstances among staff.<br />

We made a judgement that in the first<br />

instance we would maintain a <strong>Clyde</strong> Directorate for two years<br />

or thereby <strong>and</strong> then integrate the management of all of the<br />

services into a single entity.<br />

Now that’s a judgement that we took at<br />

that point in time based on how we envisaged the arrangements<br />

we were inheriting. We have now moved to fuse all of those<br />

clinical service teams so that we no longer have a <strong>Clyde</strong> Acute<br />

Services Directorate. We have brought surgery within <strong>Clyde</strong><br />

into the single <strong>Greater</strong> <strong>Glasgow</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Clyde</strong> Surgical
