In <strong>the</strong> old days, it was common <strong>to</strong> use a Ford half axle as a stake driven<br />
in<strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> ground <strong>to</strong> anchor high stands, Overheads, etc. Since junkyards<br />
ran out of half axles many years ago, Mat<strong>the</strong>ws started manufacturing its<br />
substitute, <strong>the</strong> Anchor Spike.<br />

BAZOOKA<br />
Most film studios have very high ceilings and catwalks from which much<br />
of <strong>the</strong> lighting is done. Catwalks, also known as decks or greens, can be<br />
raised or lowered depending on <strong>the</strong> set. Catwalks have safety railings and<br />
t<strong>here</strong> are usually holes drilled at <strong>the</strong> edge of <strong>the</strong> deck about 18” apart. The<br />
“L” bracket of <strong>the</strong> Bazooka fits over <strong>the</strong> safety railing while <strong>the</strong> bot<strong>to</strong>m pin<br />
fits in<strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> hole in <strong>the</strong> deck, providing a stable base on which <strong>to</strong> mount a<br />
lighting instrument. The Bazooka terminates in a 1-1/8” Junior Receiver.<br />

GRIP HELPER<br />
The Grip Helper is a combination of several adapters in one. The Junior Pin<br />
of <strong>the</strong> Grip Helper mounts in<strong>to</strong> a light stand, and <strong>the</strong> Junior Receiver allows<br />
<strong>the</strong> mounting of a light fixture without upsetting <strong>the</strong> center of balance. In<br />
between t<strong>here</strong> is a 3’ <strong>to</strong> 6’ telescoping Extension Arm fixed at a 45° angle<br />
with a 4-1/2” Grip Head attached. By using <strong>the</strong> Grip Helper, a large light<br />
fixture and Diffusion Frame up <strong>to</strong> 48”x 48” can be used from <strong>the</strong> same stand.<br />

CROWDER HANGER<br />
A Junior Posi-V-Lock Receiver hangs from a 2 x 4 or 2 x 6 without <strong>the</strong> need<br />
<strong>to</strong> nail it. The 5/8” Adapter is made with a right angle bend and a 5/8” pin<br />
at each end, allowing a pin <strong>to</strong> come straight down or come off at a right<br />
