5) To analyze the activities proposed in order to see if they fulfil<br />

the conditions for a significant learning. In this point, it is specially<br />

important to pay attention to the activities that must be done in<br />

the different moments of the process of learning and teaching.<br />

6) To adapt these materials and didactic recourses to the<br />

educative context in which they are used.<br />

+From a communicative point of view, in our area, language teaching sees<br />

materials as a way of influencing the quality of classroom interaction. The primary<br />

role of materials is therefore to promote communicative language use.<br />

4.<br />

Methodological principles:<br />

+In the case of our area, as explained in the first part of this theme we will have<br />

to take into account the guidelines given in the introduction of our Primary Curriculum,<br />

Royal Decree 14/9/ 91, which establishes the minimum teaching requirements in<br />

Primary Education.<br />

1.English teaching does not involve teaching a language , but teaching to<br />

communicate in English. This means that we will adopt a communicative<br />

approach which aims at the acquisition of a communicative competence.<br />

2.We should favour functional learning. This means that the students should be<br />

able to use the language in communicative situations.<br />

3.We should promote meaningful learning. This entails that the learners will build<br />

up their own linguistic competence by using learning strategies and by making<br />

hypotheses about me way in which language works starting from the linguistic<br />

input.<br />

4.English teaching should provide students with both a new linguistic experience<br />
