Certiorari–Summary Disposition
No. 02–1. Thomas R. Phillips, Chief Justice, Supreme Court of Texas,
et al., Petitioners v. Washington Legal Foundation, et al. On petition
for writ of certiorari to the United States Court of Appeals for the
Fifth Circuit. Petition for writ of certiorari granted. Judgment vacated,
and case remanded to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth
Circuit for further consideration in light of Brown v. Legal Foundation
of Washington, 538 U. S. ––– (2003).
Orders in Pending Cases
No. 02M77. Joanne Clark, Petitioner v. William L. Henninger, Deputy
Sheriff. Motion to direct the Clerk to file a petition for a writ of
certiorari out-of-time denied.
No. 02–473. United States, Petitioner v. Lashawn Lowell Banks. Motion
for appointment of counsel granted, and it is ordered that Randall
J. Roske, Esquire, of Las Vegas, Nevada, is appointed to serve as counsel
for the respondent in this case.
No. 02–8863. Willie C. Jacox, Petitioner v. Gordon England, Secretary
of the Navy, et al. Motion of petitioner for leave to proceed
in forma pauperis denied. Petitioner allowed until April 21, 2003,
within which to pay the docketing fee required by Rule 38(a) and to
submit a petition in compliance with Rule 33.1 of the Rules of this
Court.
