7.0 TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION FOR MOTORS<br />
1 Low voltage squirrel cage induction motors :<br />
2 Low voltage slip ring induction motors (Only <strong>for</strong> cranes <strong>and</strong> mill duty):-<br />

(i) Frame size & rating As per IS 325<br />
(ii) Motor body Grey iron casting as per IS:210-1978<br />
(iii) Motor Feet Integrally cast <strong>with</strong> the stator<br />
(iv) Body Design -Prevent breakage or other failures due to<br />
vibrations normally encountered in heavy<br />
industries . -Motors shall be of weather<br />
proof construction. -Designed to operate in<br />
the humid air stream -Drain plugs to be<br />
provided .<br />
(v) Protection <strong>for</strong> Motor & IP -55 (<strong>with</strong> canopy <strong>for</strong> motor if installed<br />
Bearing<br />
outdoor)<br />
(vi) Shaft ends & Extension Cylindrical as per requirement Proper<br />
drilling <strong>and</strong> tapping shall be provided <strong>for</strong><br />
mounting of tachos <strong>for</strong> speed feedback (if<br />
required ) Crane motor in 225 <strong>and</strong> above<br />
frame sizes shall have tapered shaft (1:10)<br />

(vii) Bearings -For motor of rating upto 5 kW, ball<br />
bearings shall be used <strong>for</strong> both DE & NDE<br />
end. -For ratings above 5 kW the DE end<br />
shall be provided <strong>with</strong> roller bearing <strong>and</strong><br />
NDE end shall be provided <strong>with</strong> ball<br />
bearing. -Bearings <strong>for</strong> motors shall be of C3<br />
clearance . -Bearings shall be suitable <strong>for</strong><br />
running of motor in either direction.<br />

(xii) Direction of Rotation For crane <strong>and</strong> mill duty motors : reversible<br />
For general purpose continuous duty motor<br />

3.0 Terminal box<br />
(i) Location Location on top preferably<br />
(ii) Suitability -4 Core Aluminium Cable -Extension shall<br />
be done to receive the aluminium cables to<br />
avoid cramping of the cables in the<br />
terminal box .<br />
