N.O. 93 REWARDS FOR ARREST OF DESERTERS.<br />
1Q14~~ With reference to Article 49A of Financial and Allowance<br />
Regulations, rewards for arrest of deserters from the<br />
Eoyal <strong>Australian</strong> Wavy may be paid at the following rates<br />
from 1st July, 1914:—<br />
Up to a limit of £2 for a straggler;<br />
Up to a limit of £6 for a deserter or presumed<br />
deserter.<br />
Financial and Allowance Regulations will be amended<br />
accordingly. (1ST. 14/835.)<br />

Syllabus of Instruction, Spectacle Island. N.O. 94<br />
As much instruction as the resources of Spectacle Island 1914,<br />
will admit is to be given in the following subjects:— continued.<br />
(1) Dismounting Breech Mechanism of 13.5-in.,<br />
12-In., 9.2-in., 6-in., 4.7-in., Q.F. 4-in., 12pounder<br />
Q.F., 6 and 3 pr., Hotchkiss 3-pr.<br />
Semi-auto., and mounting same, and explanation<br />
of working parts.<br />
(2) To adapt power-worked mechanism for working<br />
by hand and hydraulic.<br />
(3) Stripping and assembling of all locks, E. and<br />
P. and Box Slides.<br />
(4) Description of all aiming rifles and sub-calibres,<br />
and points to be observed in fitting same.<br />
(5) What to do in the case of an " R." Gun being<br />
turned over and used as an " L." Gun.<br />
(6) Description of implements for taking impressions,<br />
taking impressions, and instruction on impressions<br />
of past defects in bores and causes of<br />
same.<br />
(7) Measuring bores of guns and reading micrometer.<br />
(8) Decoppering bores of guns by the different processes,<br />
first lapping, electric and chemical.<br />
(9) Instructions in gauging protrusion gun locks,<br />
firing pins, strikers, firing hole brush, obturator,<br />
testing blow of striker, eccentricity of striker,<br />
vent chamber, and crusher gauges.<br />
(10) Instructions in preservation and repair of<br />
ordnance and defects that would cause provisional<br />
condemnation.<br />
(11) Testing of clynometer planes and clynometers.<br />
(12) Testing of obturator seating.<br />
(13) Practical instructions in lapping out bores of<br />
guns and visits of inspection to gun-mounting<br />
shop, sight erecting and testing shop, telescope<br />
adjustment shop and general visitation to any<br />
part of the Depot containing anything of<br />
interest to armourers.<br />
(14) Inspection of any interesting operations in<br />
factory. ,<br />
General.—Not more than four (4) ratings are to he, sent at<br />
any one time.<br />
The Chief Armourer at the Naval Ordnance Depot will<br />
assist when his Depot duties will admit.
