GOLF TOURNAMENT
The 19th Annual Austin Open
Golf Tournament spoasored by
Austin Preparatory School in
Reading will be held on
Monday. July 31 at the Indian
Ridge Country Club in Andover.
Proceeds benefit the
Chemistry Lab Renovation pro-
ject. The fee is S175 per player
for morning round ($160 if paid
before July 1), $195 per player
for afternoon round ($175 if
paid before July 1).
Greens' fee includes cart,
sleeve of balls, use of driving
range and clubhouse, breakfast
(for morning golfers), lunch,
dinner, awards, raffle, auction
and a complimentary use of
pool and tennis courts for
golfers and their families.

UMPIRES SET DATE
FOR TRAINING PROGRAM
The Merrimack Valley
Umpires Association (MVUA)
announces that the umpiring
clinic for adult men, women
and teenagers (over 16) who
want to be trained as certified
(patched) baseball umpires, is
scheduled to begin on Thursday,
July 13 and continue on consec-
utive Thursdays for the next
seven weeks. The official
umpire's exam will be adminis-
tered at the end of the seven
week class.
"I am always amazed that
even though the MVUA has
grown to over 150 members, we
still do not have enough
umpires to do all the games we
are asked to cover," said Steve
Martinelli, President of the
MVUA.
The clinics will be held from
6:30 - 9 p.m. at St. Mary of the
Assumption School in Lawrence

for the 7 week program is $100.

college, AAU, Babe Ruth to
Little League in Mass. and New
Hampshire. The MVUA has
been providing quality umpires
to this area for over 50 years
and is the oldest umpiring orga-
nization m Mass.

Waltham now offer guided tours
on the first Wednesday of each
month.
Visitors to the greenhouse
can enjoy a tour with one of
Historic New England's plant
experts to learn about the his-
toric plant materials, discover
the history of the building, and
hear about the Lyman family
history. The Lyman greenhouse
includes some of the oldest
greenhouses still in active use
in the country.
The 1804 grapery contains
grapes grown from cuttings
taken in the 1880s from the
royal greenhouses at Hampton
