SUBJECT INDEX
(systematical order)
The subject index should be used in conjunction with the alphabetical list of
names and subjects. The names of the investigators are arranged systematically
under a number of headings explained below (see page 197 ff.).
Each entry is composed of a name, a lower cast letter referring to the subject
in the alphabetical list, a capital letter (or letters) indicating the taxonomic
position of the material used, and (in a number of cases) one or more numerals
in brackets, further specifying the character of the investigation. In the case
of investigations carried out in collaboration by two ore more investigators, all
names are listed separately.
The system used enables the reader to find related subjects under the same
heading, grouped according to the taxonomic position of the material used.
