Construction
2011 saw the completion and the start of several construction projects around
Queensland all managed by C&K.
C&K Oakleigh Community Kindergarten
This new single unit kindergarten built on the Oakleigh Sate School site opened
for term one 2011. It was not without challenges however as due to the flooding
rains, the playground area was not able to be completed for the start of term, the
children were very patient as they watched and waited for the completion of their
outdoor facility.
C&K Carindale Community Kindergarten
This project was for an additional third unit and playground at the existing site.
Although the summer weather conditions presented challenges for both builders
and community, the new unit opened for term two. The new unit and playground
were fully operational by middle of 2011.
C&K The Gap Community Kindergarten
A renovation and construction project converted the single unit into a new double
unit for C&K The Gap Community Kindergarten. Construction comprised of a new
kitchen, toilet facilities, internal renovations and stairs to the previously unused
playground at the rear of the site. Until this project, the large playground area had
been abandoned for many years. This service started operations in their new home
term two 2011, and they had use of their new playground some weeks later.
C&K Middlemount Community Childcare Centre
The Middlemount project was an extension and renovation of the existing babies
and toddler rooms to meet the increased needs for the local community and
provide flexibility within the service. This project had significant challenges due
to the remote location and the rooms remaining open during the construction
process. The support from the staff and commitment from the builder to work at
night and weekends meant disruption to the children and families was kept to a
minimum. Construction work was completed October 2011.
C&K Blackwater Community Childcare Centre
The scope of this project included the construction of a new two room babies
building located in a unused area of the site and the complete renovation of all
other rooms and areas in the service. The staff of the service provided support
through the project and ensured disruptions for children and their families was
kept to a minimum. The new babies building and renovations was completed and
in use in late 2011, ahead of schedule.
C&K Clinton Community Childcare Centre
This project featured a new five room childcare centre and administration block
co-located on the Clinton State School site. Construction was completed in
December 2011, the centre opened to the local community on 10 January 2012.
